I thought that was Wards. Maybe both did. I could ask the internet machine, but I'd rather keep typing this stupid reply.

I don't know about Ward's, but there are definitely Sears homes in Park Ridge and Morton Grove.

Me friend owned a Sears home on Hamilton in Ravenswood.

Maybe it's because you're probably younger than I am, but I refer to that site as the old Marshall Fields building (which later became Borders). My mom would drag me to that Fields every so often. We'd enter through that little building on Harlem, which I think was the Frango mint store, and then I'd have to tag along while she browsed cosmetics and clothing.

If I spill what I know publicly, they will sue me.

I'm the only consultant that was ever paid a severance by Sears.

The $27 in a cash back account is the least of their worries.

You are already breaking your NDA with Sears by saying you have a non-disclosure agreement with Sears.

This why you shouldn't take legal advice from some douchebag.

This lunatic I kind of know was a Navy frogman who was trained to rescue the capsule on the return of the Apollo missions. I don't think he actually ever did it though. This guy is fucking crazy. He has these semi-feral dogs that live on his property and they just keep procreating and making new dogs and it's like a pack of wolves out there. Last time I saw him he had a right-hand dog named Suzie who was the only one allowed in the house and she was the Alpha of all those wild dogs. But anyway, that isn't the point of the story. This goof loves to go to garage sales and second hand shops and buy broken Craftsman tools for a dollar or less. Then he has the balls to take them into Sears and demand replacements. At first they put up resistance, asking for receipts and shit, but this motherfucker is tenacious. He just wears them down. Standing his ground, he'll ask why the receipt matters if they have a lifetime guarantee. "OH, you no longer stand behind the Craftsman products??? I'll tell my tool-buying friends about that!" Eventually they give the guy the new tools just to get him the fuck out of the store.

Sears used to sell Craftsman sheet metal snips. Eventually, they get dull and don't cut very well. At that point, they are useless to me. I would bring them back, and ask for a new one. They would tell me that the snips aren't broken, and can't be replaced. I would say to the clerk, "are you going to replace them, or do I need to take them out to the parking lot and destroy them?" They would give in eventually. They don't sell snips with the Craftsman logo anymore.

I lived about 2 blocks away from 2008-13. Borders closed in 2011. If you walk by the building you can still see some of the Borders logos on the door. Crazy that it's been five years and they haven't put anything in there yet. Prime location, especially with the high rise a few blocks away that they just built.

Screw you, Sears for putting an actual label on fat boy's jeans that actually said; "HUSKY".

Took many an ass-kicking over that crap circa 1975.

I wore them as well.

You took many an ass kicking because you are Italian, not because of the jeans.

It's true, not prejudicial.

The Irish kids were ones beating your ass. We never suffered physical abuse for wearing the Husky brand.

So another example of where the Italians all followed the Irish guy? When will this stop?

I remember getting Toughskins jeans from Sears as a yout in the 80's. Fortunately, I didn't have to wear Husky.

Sure, there's your porn, your email, your messageboards, etc. ... but being able to so easily find and access stuff like this, imo, makes the internet as great as it is.
