2008 will see the release of the following ten movies, how do you think they'll rank in domestic box office ranking?

Rambo
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guatananamo
The Incredible Hulk (with Edward Norton)
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Iron Man (with Robert Downey Jr)
The Dark Knight (Batman with Heath Ledger as The Joker)
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Horton Hears a Who!
Get Smart
Sex and the City: The Movie

This isn't to say that 'great box office' makes a great movie. It's just a diversion to see who can predict the hits and duds.

Top Box Office Predictions
1. Harry "Pothead"- I hear he's very popular
2. "Sux" and the "Shitty"- groan
3. Horton Hears a Who!- People are always looking for something for the youngin's
4. The Dark Knight- Lot of Buzz, people love Batman
5. Iron Man- Lot of Buzz, Downey is a good choice
6. Indiana Jones- Might draw some interest for people looking for an old-fashioned adventure film
7. Get Smart- Would be higher if a) Carrell didn't make "Evan Almighty" and b) Wasn't a rehash of an old TV show
8. Rambo- Might do pretty good, with very little out at this time
9. Incredible Hulk- People may have been turned off by the last movie
X. Harold and Kumar- Was the first one that good, to warrant a sequel?

"order of the phoenix" is the strongest movie of the bunch. I'm expecting that trend to continue.

Looks as cheesy as Ghost Rider, but I may give it a chance because of Downey Jr.

Both Lucas and Spielberg are past their prime, I think they both worked on this. I'm not expecting much...but nostalgia.

Hoping this is the "Commando" of a new generation.

Or may think...god it can't be worse than that last movie...

I ask myself this a lot...

1 Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - no brainer imho
2 Horton Hears a Who! - This will simply clean house
3 The Dark Knight (Batman with Heath Ledger as The Joker) - He's the Joker, he's a Stroker, he's an brokeback poker
4 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Speilberg is gold
5 Iron Man (with Robert Downey Jr) - looks awesome, and is getting good pub
6 The Incredible Hulk (with Edward Norton) - Norton will make this role his
7 Rambo - The "R" rating will hurt
8 Get Smart - Is Get Smart even relevant 40 years later?
9 Sex and the City: The Movie - Chick flick that nobody really needed, or will want
10 Harold and Kumar Escape from Guatananamo - Cult status flick

Now with Heath Ledger dead, the sicko factor (think THE CROW) will up the take...

It may just bump off Willie Horton Hears a Who now.

Indiana Jones 4 will do killer box office. That franchise appeals to all ages and both women and men.

Even todays kids have been shown 1-3 by their parents. So they'll make thier parents take them. Spielberg will make it PG or PG 13 to get those kids in the theater.

Rambo - one of those films that will get decent reviews, have a decent opening weekend but won't keep audiences for more than 2 weeks

Harold and Kumar Escape from Guatananamo - I imagine a mediocre opening, and an underwhelming response.

The Incredible Hulk (with Edward Norton) - Not sure. I haven't seen a trailer for it yet, but I imagine it will do ok. Not a blockbuster, but not a bomb.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - Big opening weekend, I think it will be one of the top 10 grossing films of the year.

Iron Man (with Robert Downey Jr) - Decent opening weekend, slow decline.

The Dark Knight (Batman with Heath Ledger as The Joker) - Huge opening weekend, may fall off but will have a lengthy run in theaters.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - Probably a sizeable opener, but a quicker decline than the last film in terms of leaving theaters.

Horton Hears a Who! - Won't make any records but will have a consistent week-to-week profit, short shelf life.

Get Smart - Not that big of a deal. Bad premier, disappointing numbers.

Sex and the City: The Movie - chick flicks have a tendency to linger in theaters for weeks, so I imagine this won't be too flashy numbers wise, but will be in theaters for quite a spell.

It's completed as far as I know...someone said in another thread that it's in post production.

Yeah it's done. Ledger's parts are all completed, so worry not. Still a bummer.

How long until people start drawing this comparison:

Brandon Lee died when he was 28... in his last movie, he was playing a 'dark character' and wearing white makeup in a movie.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000488/

Ditto Heath Ledger.

Give it some time, one of these whack job websites or tabloid rags will pick up on it.

...oh wait, too late, I just posted it on THIS whack job website.

I watched a short bit of XFiles while waiting for the Dark Knight. I was amazed the theater was actually packed with people. I think it was all to see a certain female actor...

i'm glad "the x-files" didn't make any money. it's become a completely dead franchise, and instead of trying to reinvigorate it, carter mailed one in...
