Apple is for chumps. It's just a lifestyle brand! My laptop was $300 and it does everything a computer needs to do, just without a fancy backlit logo behind the screen.

So I'm no IMU, but it seems to my feeble mind that if you want to use your wired headphones and therefore would be employing their adapter, wouldn't that kinda sorta mean you could not concurrently charge the item at the same time?

I mean, I'm sure there's a great reason for doing so, having nothing to do with their purchase of a certain headphone company.

That's not really the same, because the 1/8" headphone jack standard has been around a lot longer than any of those, and isn't being abandoned anywhere but Apple.

The new wireless "AirPods" are only $160. That's the real reason the headphone jack was eliminated...there are no other features they added to justify removing it (other than improving water resistance by removing the hole).

And typical Apple, even though the new phones are the same dimensions as the previous models, they are forcing you to buy a new case because they are adding another speaker to the top (not to where the headphone jack was).

That's a really, really terrible analogy.

Those things were 'replaced' with demonstrably better (faster, more storage, increase security potential, greater portability, etc.) products.

There is nothing better offered by this change ... not for the consumer anyway.

This is basically Apple doing this on a dare, gambling that enough dopes just take it with a smile either b/c they're literally too dumb to know better or are fanboys to the extent that they've rendered themselves to be too dumb.
