It was an okay show. The one thing I liked is they picked realistic looking actors. The detective looked like a guy who had been on that job 20 years and all the carnage and death had taken a physical toll on his body. The same with the prosecuting attorney. Just some old beat-to-shit broad that's been through the ringer trying case after case. Everything was grimy and gritty.

The cat storyline just gives us a little insight to Stone wanting to let go of all of his frustrations with his life and just allow himself to care about others again.
His clients only call when they need something, his kid and ex don't want anything to do with him, and people think he is a laughing stock hack lawyer. The
cat ( like dogs to a larger extent ), gives him unconditional love and it takes a while to let down his guard. I thought that was a nice moment that the cat
now has free reign of the house and Stone just deals with it.

I like your ideas of making this an ongoing series. I'm not sure if you continue to call it The Night Of but as I have stated, I really think that HBO can do
well with these one season 6-10 episode stories. Of course this is all what we wanted after True Detective and look how that turned out. We must be
careful what we wish for. in the end it comes down to really good script writing in my opinion. HBO has good directors and plenty of good actors waiting
to jump in.

P.S. Did anyone else notice that the stepdad of the girl that was killed was actually Mickey Doyle from Boardwalk Empire?

I totally forgot he was the in Boardwalk. Wow, looks and acts totally different than in other parts. I was too hung up on recognizing him from House of Cards. I just finished the series last night, thought it was great. Did a great job masking who the killer was. I assumed it was him from the start since I figured he was too good of an actor to only have a cameo or two.

Don't compare this to True Detective. That show was shit from the start, this show was awesome.

I'll be happy if I never see that prosecutor's face again.

She was pathetic in a lot of ways. I especially thought she looked bad when it was ruled a hung jury, and the judge asked her what she wanted to do. She was all used up.

I never saw anything like that before. I don't know how they put her on TV.
