twitter usually just locks your account temporarily. next time you go to twitter after they've locked it you get a locked message and have to go through a series of screens acknowledging you may or may not have done something wrong and that you'll consider not doing whatever you may or may not have done in the future. then they unlock your account, either immediately or after a day.
