I was surprised to hear Mac firing on those being critical of the way LT comported himself on the sidelines. Hasn't Mac been all over guys (Erik Kramer, Grossman) for similar things in the past?

I kinda thought this seemed like something he'd have a fit over...unless I have one of those imaginary radios B&B talk about.

I disagree with Mac and Jurko and according to Mariotti today , it was announced in the press box in FoxBoro he could return in the 2nd quarter and he chose not to. How does your QB play with a torn ACL and you sit on the sideline with a knee bruise and your helmet on?

Jack Youngblood played with a broken leg in a playoff game and took 2 aspirin and taped it up and played 3 quarters of football.

LT is soft....Payton would of played.

LT is in the douchebag forum feeling shame today.

Until we find out SPECIFICALLY what is wrong with LT, I think we should reserve judgement.

Tomlinson makes his money RUNNING the ball. Philip Rivers does so by PASSING the ball - not taking a hit whenever he has the ball.

I also think there was some gamesmanship regarding LT on the injury report - especially since he WAS NOT ON IT - go to NFL.com and check for yourself. So I'm sure Norv Turner is covering his ass a bit there too.

...and yes, LT wasn't giggling on the sidelines jerking around. He was sitting on the bench wondering where his VIZEO was at.

mac has blasted grossbomb for sitting alone on the sidelines, but not for doing it because of an injury. regardless of LT being hurt or soft, im just glad that group of trashtalkers are out of the playoffs

Yeah , just ask the other 52 San Diego Chargers..They'll agree with ya . Or better yet ask the 2 other guys who played with a dislocated toe and a torn ACL. They looked fine sitting from my lazyboy. :salut:

The difference being, LT got hurt DURING the game allegedly.

Whenever that happened to Grossman, he was last seen being carted off the field.

Mac (and others) have been critical in other games when Rx Gross-Man showed little (or no) interest in discussing anything with the other QBs or Doogie Howser QB - Quarterbacks Coach.

yeah, gates had 2 catches for 17 yards. rivers was 19/37 for 200 and change and 2 picks. maybe their "gutty" performances cost the team.

Rivers looked ridiculous at times throwing those "all arm" floaters off of his front foot..

I don't like Rivers. He's one of those hot heads. But I'll give that SOB credit. He played with a torn ACL!!! I've never heard of or remember a player ever doing that.

I'm sure it happened in the 40's or 50's when team doctors didn't know what an ACL was. They just called it a bad knee back then.

But in the modern NFL it's unheard of.

rivers is a pretty good qb, but not good enough where him at 50% is better than anyone else at 100%. i cant believe they didnt hook him.

Rivers is also opting out of his rookie contract - so I'm sure he was motivated to 'tough it out' because of that.

Just the opposite Grid. With this injury he should have sat out to protect himself from doing worse damage. He could have torn 3 ligaments like Culpepper and jeopordized himself getting new money.

Take some advice an adhere to your moniker when discussing football. Playing Madden football (in your case) and breaking down the AFC playoffs are huge DIFFERENCES. This so called Gutty performer put his team is position to score 3 times in the Red Zone and he took the NFL's best team to the brink yesterday ...

How did a healthy Brett Farve look to you yesterday? Cost his Packers the game.

Ya, but he 'took one for the team' in a Conference Championship Game - and he'll expect them to reward him for it.

No. Had he sat out he would have been paid the same. That didn't gain him a dime. He's there QB of the future. They'll have to pony up. By playing he risked further injury and jeopordized his pay day.

For what it's worth, Philip Rivers played Sunday's game with NO ACL.

Rivers played on knee with ACL 'totally gone'

Tomlinson's sprain won't require surgery

By Kevin Acee
UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER

12:39 p.m. January 21, 2008

Philip Rivers' anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee is “totally gone” and he will have reconstructive surgery soon.

The recovery time for the surgery is not known but Rivers said he definitely will be 100 percent by the start of next season.

Meanwhile, Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson said his sprained MCL will not require surgery. About four weeks rest should be enough to heal the injury that kept him out of all but the first two offensive series of Sunday's AFC Championship Game.

“It's just time,” Tomlinson said. “It's not going to require surgery. Most of these injuries, when you have a sprained MCL, it takes four weeks.”

Rivers played the entirety of the Chargers' 21-12 loss to the New England Patriots with a right knee with no ACL. He revealed Monday he had arthroscopic surgery last Monday to clean out loose cartilage and enable him to play.

“If I don't do that Monday, I had no chance of playing,” Rivers said. The San Diego Union-Tribune first reported Friday that Rivers had injured his ACL, but the extent of the injury was not known until today.

“The ACL is gone,” Rivers said.

Until Sunday night, Rivers and the team said his injury was just a sprained MCL.

Does anyone know if he would be risking further injury to that knee by playing in that game?

yeah, that is very impressive. my question remains, is philip rivers with no ACL a better option than a 100% billy volek? maybe, maybe not, now we will never know.
