The Wire is, in my opinion, the best show on television right now. The Shield might still be better but The Wire is closing in on it.

Yeah, this current season has been very satisfying and highly recommended. The Marlo Stansfield character is infinitely fascinating. And the two enforcers/assassins he employs are chilling. Great stuff. Viva OnDemand!

I saw the first season, then saw part of the second; after that, I didn't see the Wire for a good long time before this season. This show is quite possibly the best show of all time, IMO. The writing, and the acting are both top-notch, and the format allows an unprecedented level of detail. The realism is without peer.

In the last week, I downloaded Season 3 off bit torrent, so I'm now pretty well caught up (www.torrentreactor.net, for those similarly morally bankrupt ;)). Season 3 was great; I downloaded Season 2, and I'm going to go back and watch it to fill in all the gaps. I can't wait until next September for season 5!

Edit: Hey Nas, you need to go back and see the first three seasons; having seen them, I can tell you that you're missing a lot of background that makes the current storylines even more interesting and rewarding. You've got 9 months till the final season airs to catch up! :P

Saw a promo saying season 5 will start in January. Does anybody have any details on the upcoming season, besides it being the final season?

Wikipedia to the rescue. Man, I'm pumped. Just over a month to go.

Man, where have you been. The Wire has been the best show on TV for years and it's not even close. Incredible drama and brutally honest social commentary. They're not afraid to kill off likable characters. If anyone remembers Wallace you know what I mean. I can't wait for Season 5, even though it's sadly the last one.

And watching them in order is essential. While the main storylines in Seasons 1 and 2 may have been different, there's lots you wouldn't catch by watching it out of order.

I am a huge Steve Earle fan. I consider The Mountain and El Corazon to be absolute masterpieces, and also think I Feel Alright, Transcendental Blues, and Train a Comin' are outstanding efforts. In concert, he is the alt-country version of Bruce Springsteen--his shows always go really long and are fiercely energetic. If you haven't seen him live yet, check him out the next time he passes through town.

I heard you can watch each weeks episode a week early on ON Demand. Also heard that a few websites have up to episode 7 on their sites. Wish the show would stick to the police and the streets and forget about the politics and the newspaper stuff.

Looks like things are starting to heat up. Wonder how much time Michael has left before Snoop and Chris are forced to off him. Marlo wants Omar, but he has left town, how will they get him back in town?

Great episode last night. Read some of the spoilers for next week, and it just keeps getting better. The McNaulty story is starting to get really weird the way he is obsessed with getting Marlo and willing to do anything. I'm wondering if Bunk will eventually turn him in, but with Fremon working with McNaulty now, maybe his view will change.

I've got On Demand with Comcast and they put the new episodes up a week before they air on HBO. Watched episode 4 tonight and things are really picking up. Omar is back!

Prop Joe is dead. Omar is Batman. Anyone else finding this season to be a little unbelievable? The whole McNulty and Freamon thing seems far fetched. Plus, from seeing what the Greeks were like in previous seasons, why would they so readily deal with Marlo? I think they may end up getting rid of Marlo. Also, did anyone else find the Barksdale crew more enjoyable than Marlo's?

I think that's the point. Recall the end of the last season, and the talk Brody had with McNulty.

Barksdale seemed cartoonish if not a bit mental in his appearances. Bodie and the rest of Barksdale's people were simple (and occaisionally sympathetic) compared to Marlo's crews, but far less edgy and less interesting to me. With squeezes coming from all sides with all characters in this last season, I'm just hoping that they won't need to be as simplistically obvious with themes as they were with Cheese/Joe & Marlo or McNulty's stupid patterns (I'm almost hoping he gets clipped, his scenes have been largely unwatchable)

I just recently watched episode 8 on demand. Another main character bites it but I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. I was laughing my ass off when the FBI was reading the profile of the alleged serial killer to McNulty and Greggs.

Just watched it today, and its worth the wait. I couldn't wait til Sunday so I watched it this morning. The follow weeks looks even better with only 2 episodes remaining after Sunday.

Best show ever on TV. Its real and it doesnt hold punches. I root for McNulty to straighten up but boy he's a fun drunk. Did you guys see him nailing that slut on the hood of his car and getting caught by the parol officers. He flashes his badge and doesnt skip a beat. Classic Jimmy!
