Of course. It's sad that we have to choose between these two.

But the difference for me in this election is that I don't view this as a standard "lesser of two evils" vote. I mean, it certainly is that, but one of the candidates seems to be so unhinged and reactionary that I just want to make it past this election before demanding someone actually good. I would prefer to avoid World War III if at all possible.

Because we live in Illinois, I will likely vote Johnson, but if I were in a swing state, I'd vote Hillary. That's how much he scares me.

Many people say this but do they really believe if some way Trump won he could pull this off? I don't really think he could just get pissed one day and nuke some place. Its a bit much.

I don't know for sure, but I don't want to find out. I read a couple articles that said that the U.S. nuclear system is designed for speed, not checks and balances. The president carries the black box with him everywhere he goes. It doesn't seem like a stretch. Again, even if the answer is "probably not", I don't think we should press our luck and find out.

I remember reading that there was some sort of check and balance to activation. The President would have to go through some sort of military protocol before being able to use it. .

I would hope so. I'll Google it and see what I can find.

Ask Assange he probably has the codes also.

Is there any check on a president’s power to launch nuclear arms that could destroy entire cities or nations?

The short answer is no, though history suggests that in practice, there may be ways to slow down or even derail the decision-making process. No one disputes, however, that the president has an awesome authority.

If the United States appeared to be under nuclear assault, the president would have minutes to decide whether the threat was real, and to fire as many as 925 nuclear warheads with a destructive force greater than 17,000 Hiroshima bombs, according to estimates by Hans M. Kristensen, the director of the Nuclear Information Project at the Federation of American Scientists, a private group in Washington.

The commander in chief can also order the first use of nuclear weapons even if the United States is not under nuclear attack.

“There’s no veto once the president has ordered a strike,” said Franklin C. Miller, a nuclear specialist who held White House and Defense Department posts for 31 years before leaving government service in 2005. “The president and only the president has the authority to order the use of nuclear weapons.”

There are two things that you stated which demonstrate that you don't know what the hell you are talking about. Trump was found liable for racism in a court of law. By definition that makes him a racist. If I tell you that he has never had a black executive promoted in any of his businesses to upper echelon positions that strongly suggests that he is a racist. That isn't a coincidence. If I tell you that he was found liable for violating racial quota laws at his Indiana casino that demonstrates that he is racist.

Know the history before you speak. You don't have a clue about why blacks vote Democrat. You display a tremendous amount of ignorance and it is illustrative frankly of a person that has never paid much interest to the racial struggles which have afflicted blacks. You parrot right wing racist talking points and attempt to pass them off as fact. Republicans post 1968 have shunned the black vote and denigrated black people. I illustrated that during earlier posts. "Mindless"? I unlike you have thought long and hard about this sort of thing. I live it you don't.

A hell of a lot and a terrible appeal to ignorance on the part of both Trump and yourself.

The Democrats are not a panacea for blacks but the next time that the Republicans create policy designed to benefit blacks hold a damn parade.

Colin Powell got hacked too...

“On HD tv she doesn’t look good,” Powell, who is believed to have had around 30,000 emails hacked, wrote on March 14. “She is working herself to death… She will turn 70 her first year in office.”

In response, Leeds recalled a conversation with Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse regarding Clinton’s difficulty in traversing a set of steps.

“Sheldon Whitehouse, who is a huge Clinton supporter, said they were both giving speeches at the same event a few months back and she could barely climb the podium steps,” Leeds wrote.

...Clinton sought Powell’s advice at a dinner on June 16, 2009, at former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s house, according to the emails. Powell gave Clinton “written guidance on why and how [he] had been doing it.” Also in attendance were former secretaries of state Condoleezza Rice, Lawrence Eagleburger, George Schultz, Warren Christopher, James Baker, and Henry Kissinger.

“Dumb. She should have done a ‘Full Monty’ at the beginning,” Powell wrote. He added: “I warned her staff three times over the past two years not to try to connect it to me. I am not sure HRC even knew or understood what was going on in the basement.

You blithering idiot the reason they came up with the quota system is due to systemic racism which denied blacks an opportunity to resources for which they were otherwise qualified? Do you think Affirmative Action was created because blacks were historically hired based upon qualifications?

Do you also think that certified buffoons like Trump and GW Bush haven't benefitted from Affirmative Action? Do you think that their success is solely based upon their "genius" and not familial connections? You are truly a dumbass if you think that.

NO I think Affirmative action had its time and place but it should not be a eternal crutch. We as a country are not going to be able to advance with the race issue unless we are able to put ti behind us. The falsehoods and constant white blame is over. We as a nation elected a black president. We have people of all colors races and makeups at all levels of government and industry. Time for the race card to go bye bye. I'm sorry about slavery but non of my ancestors had shit to do with it, I am second generation American. I don't think most on this board have any slave owners in their ancestors. Dr King said he wanted his children to be judged by the content of their heart not the color of their skin, so let's practice what the man said as he is held up as the pinnacle of the civil rights movement.
Hell,I am all for reperations , just as long as it is the end of the bullshit from the race baiters like JJand Rev Al. Do some math, there was not 400 years of slavery in America.

So based on the logic, anyone of Irish Italian or Polish decent should get their own version of Affirmative Action because they where discriminated as well. There used to be signs saying no Irish allowed, Poles need not apply.

They are defenses for the things he has done or said. Instead of addressing the comments or policy prescriptions Trump's has made the above quotes are used to deflect the blame away from Trump for his words and actions and put the focus on Hillary.

Just admit that you're pissed because Hillary is choking away the presidency, which has been given to her on a silver platter.

Where is the part where Trump is defended?

You just summarized all of ltg's responses and changed Trump to Hillary.

In all fairness, that is ltg, not Nas.

The other difference is that no one seems to defend Trump at least here.

If ltg and Nas admitted Hillary is horrible and no one should be happy voting for her then this thread would probably be a lot different.

Exactly.

These are MANY of the usual defenses of Trump and his "policies".

"Well Hillary did ____."
"Hillary is a worse person"
"He doesn't really mean that."
"If we're going to have borders and laws..."
"What do you have to lose?"

Not at all. I'm just happy Bernie Sanders isn't the nominee. Having 2 NY charlatans as options would be difficult.

Seriously I've never been a fan of Hillary's (I've always respected her). I thought my MANY years of posting made this clear. I really would not care if she lost if her opponents weren't Cruz or Trump.

This has got to be killing Nas. I mean It is Donald fucking Trump. The guy went bankrupt running a casino, has what 4-5 wives and runs beauty pageants and reality shows. For God sakes he was in a hair match in WWE vs Vince McMahon.

She should be cake walking to the finishline. This is fail of epic proportions, Heavens Gate level. 1941 Bears vs Redskins. Wrong Way Corrigan. Add to the fact that she is literally falling apart in front of us. Not ever Regan in the depths of dementia was this bad. This is a dual face palm level of fail.

And just like that the Trump thread in the CSFMB has better fact checking than the Matt Lauer debacle.
