I dunno. Anyone can pile up garbage-time numbers. Albert Belle accumulated a whole bunch of homers and doubles here in a short time, and I don't think any of 'em mattered.

On the other hand, Abreu became a better hitter all-around in the second half of his first season. (Last year, I can't remember.) So maybe this is his thing. After 2012, I'd rather have a strong finish than see the guy fizzle out.

The Rangers game, yes. And Robertson's China Syndrome meltdown was the spiritual end, I'd say. If I ever wake up from a surgery and they tell me that it went bad, but then they add, "But there's more--we also had to neuter you," it would feel like Robertson's KC adventure.

I was hoping that game against the Mets would spark some kind of turnaround, but I guess the talent wasn't there.
