My favorite part of the celebration so far was when Chapman fired off 6 rounds into the ivy.

Would have been better if it was at Jim Rose

I might have mixed feelings if the Brewers started the bottom of the 1st w/ a fastball to the skull ...

Heartbroken, no. Heartburn, a little, but I already had that.

I was actually not mentioning it today because I didn't want you to get nervous.

Scott Boras and his accountant must be wincing these days with every new Arrieta start.

Rest him a start or two and he's our best arm.

They should have tried to ink a deal after last year.

Won't win a post season start. Maddon should treat him like Hendricks now, first sign of trouble yank his ass.

Wasn't the word that Jake & Co. wanted seven years and the Cub only offered 5?

Never say never, but I can't imagine anyone giving Arrieta seven guaranteed years after next season. He should of struck while the iron was hot.

That's what I mean. He and Boras should have taken what they could get. You don't bet on yourself after you have the greatest half in Major League History. Your value can only go down after that. I'm glad the Cubs held off.

Yeah that payroll is going to jump to record levels pretty soon and you can't pay everybody. Jake's financial window with the Cub may have closed.

I don't see Bryant (or Russell) taking an extension, but he's going to have some historic arbitration salary demands. And at some point you're going to have to lock up Hendricks and make good on Rizzo's deal as well as buy some more starting pitching.

On a side note, I think it can't be understated just how huge it is that Braun didn't end up in San Fran or L.A.

I had horrific visions of him gutting us out on the West Coast come playoff time.

Sands Steele Zastrysny Cease and Underwood all going to be aces. We're fine.

I hate that asshole. He would make a perfect Cardinal.

So you won't be on board when Theo & Co acquire him in 3 years to come off the bench after he's been released by the Dodgers?

One of the best parts of winning teams is the aging veterans they bring in.

Who didn't love Robert "The Chief" Parrish's time with the Bull?
