I was going to put this in the "Common Knowledge" thread, but I can't find it. And you old fuckers can make fun of me all you want... but I never knew what Grey Gardens was. I had heard of it, but I didn't know what it was until I watched "Documentary Now" the other night and they did a parody of Grey Gardens.

Anyway, I watched the whole original documentary on YouTube... this shit is fascinating, and these women are crazy. Eccentric doesn't even begin to describe them. I'm sorry it took me so long to see this. It definitely explores a different way of life that took a sharp turn.

Unless there was some horrific family issues that we're not privy to, I think Jackie O. and the rest of the family should've done more to help. Am I correct in remembering that the family only stepped in once the situation became public?

Yes... and then Jac and her sister paid to get it up to code, based on what I read.

Interesting film, to say the least.

I saw the motion picture starring Jessica Lange and Drew Berrymore. There are parts in that film that are hilarious. Those two women were insane and fed off each other. There were also some very sobering moments to realize some people actually live that way. I never seen the actual documentary but the filming of it is featured in the motion picture. I recommend the film - it is informative and pretty accurate to the historical facts.
