I know their seemingly perpetual demise is a running joke in Chicago radio, but wow, they're really going down the tubes with all these lame-ass sweepers. What is Mitch thinking?

And every time I put this station on, "Fever" is playing. Enough!

Going down the tubes is playing Zeppelin every 4 songs instead of every 6 and promoting it like its a thing .

I liked the old days when the Loop could spin "Achilles Last Stand" or "Out on the Tiles" in between hair metal without consultants telling them they couldn't do that.

I thought it was confirmed that Bad was U2s best song.

I woke up at 7 this morning and heard that cool Tired Pony song that they played in heavy rotation for like a month and then never again. Apparently the hour before Flashback is called "Deep Digs at Dawn" now, though at first I thought Emma Mac said "Deep Dicks at Dawn" and wasn't quite sure what to make of that programming concept. So basically she's allowed to play whatever she wants for an hour that no one cares about. Why don't they just make the whole station like that? There was Fountains of Wayne and Magnetic Fields and stuff, it was pretty neat.

The station used to be like that. Then they sold to Big Radio and went corporate.

There must be some huge-as-fuck accounts tied to the station for CBS not to have killed the format by now. Maybe it's just death by a thousand Foo Fighters cuts.

Oh snap. Here I go........

Bad is definitely on the the list.
I'll just go ahead and omit anything from The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, as those albums are absolutely perfect.
If you want the best deep cuts, here are some of them.

Moment Of Surrender (possibly my favorite U2 song of all time), it just affects me.
An Cat dubh/into the heart
A Sort of Homecoming
Like A Song...
Unknown Caller
Scarlet
Heartland
Some Days Are Better Than others
Do you feel Loved
MOFO
Crumbs From Your Table

whatever, U2 is my favorite band of all time, and I know most of you don't give a shit.
But you may just dig it if you give it a spin.

ETA: I added a couple more

Ooh, U2 deep cuts! I'd add:

Surrender (not Moment Of, the penultimate track from War)
Electrical Storm
Miss Sarajevo
Love Comes Tumbling
Ultraviolet
Window in the Skies
October
Indian Summer Sky

How are we classifying "Sweetest Thing"? It's a B-side but I suspect everyone knows it.

It's a single I think just like landslide by the pumpkins. Both non album tracks but they were released

Surrender
A Drowning Man
An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart
Love Comes Tumbling
Promenade
The Unforgettable Fire

would all be on my list

I think U2 is great but I've never seen them in concert, so I suppose I might not actually like them but rather just like listening to the radio.

Oh, shit, I forgot all about "Drowning Man." That's one of their best songs! "Red Light" is the only cut off War I don't completely love, and even that one's not that bad. U2 gets a lot of shit for their sequencing being kinda bad, but War and Achtung Baby both go wire to wire without crapping out.

It's beyond my comprehension that anyone could hate U2. Radiohead, I get, the Smiths, I get, Frank Zappa, I totally get, but U2?

Bono is an annoying piece of shit and their music does nothing for me.

I hate Radiohead.
I'm neutral regarding the Smiths and Frank Zappa.

If that fact that Bono cares too loudly about Africa distracts you from the aural perfection of "Where The Streets Have No Name," then man, I dunno.

I have a strong affection for I threw a brick through a window.

Joshua Tree is near perfect. U2 is as fucking annoying as they come but they put out great records over the years.

Overnights seem to be voice-tracked now, which should be anathema to a AAA station. Songs run all the way out to the end with no segues like they're just running straight off a playlist, and Emma Mac sounds like she's in a closet. Overnights should be the time to let people dig through the archives and really go nuts, play whole album sides, but Entercom is going broke, so it's just endless Black Keys, Beck, and one single Lana Del Rey song on autopilot. I hope they're getting paid for the Lana Del Rey song. I'd hate to think they're running it into the ground for free.

I havent heard Emma in a while now. Lately it's been somebody else overnights. I think Emma got tired of the creeps calling her.

I have the hots for her. She is fuckin phenomenal. Such a sexy young woman.

Well then.

She's there, in a manner of speaking, right now. But now I'm intrigued by the possibility that whistler spooked her into pre-taping her shift.

 Too late. That was run into the ground a while back. I like her lyrics, despite the occasional whiny, Sylvia Plath tinge some of them have.

Enjoy your Red Hill Mining Town. Ill take Until the End of the World, thank you very much.

I think it's their best album too. Not sure I'd use that song to support your argument, but whatever...
