It was 5-1 when he did it though.

All this time and I had finally forgotten Jeff Garland's shittery including him saying "PatHuuuuughes", all thrown away by JD. :(

It was 6-1. His RBI single scored Bryant. He then tried to delay steal 2nd and was thrown out.

No?

I thought it was 5. Who cares.

So apparently the Reds' pitching staff may very well end up being arguably the worst staff since 1901, as they are on track to be the first staff ever since then to post a negative WAR.

I care. It was 6-1.

DeScalfani was their only bright spot.

You kinda have to love Ross, right?

I want him to have a contract in his hand the day after the season ends to be Joe's bench coach for as long as Joe's here and then take over for him when he splits town (assuming it all doesn't get lit on fire).

Dude, I'm 100% on board with that. We will be called meatballs for it, but whatever... I like winning.

Love me some Grandpa Rossy.

Yes I realize he's two years older than me.

If Tony Bennett ever has a stroke while doing an impression of Tom Jones singing the National Anthem, that's what it will sound like.

I crapped all over the acquisition at the time, but hats off to Coghlan. He's really been producing as of late. So much so, that I'd rather have him on the playoff roster as opposed to LaStella.

Starting to wonder about confidence in Lackey heading into the playoffs.

You don't need to use a 4th pitcher in the playoffs unless you have a 2-1 or 3-0 lead and you just want to roll the dice. Starters get enough rest to pitch on 4-5 days usually. Lackey can pitch out of the pen if needed.

If Cubs are down 1-2 in a series, no way they pitch Lackey, IMO. They pitch whomever started game 1.

I trust Lackey to give a quality playoff start a hell of a lot more than I do Jake at this point.

I disagree. I trust Jake to give me a better 5 than Lackey. The Cubs bullpen is strong enough this season to pitch the last 4 innings. The key is having the quick hook.

I realize it was a thousand years ago, but it's no accident that Lackey, as a rookie, won Game 7 of the World Series in a past life, so I'm not chomping at the bit to write him off. He goes no higher than four barring some bizarre turn of events, but he's not disposable either.

Rack up statistics in LVP situations.
