After the way S6 ended, I had zero desire to ever watch the show again. Now that we're a few weeks away from its return, I feel exactly the same. Pass.

That finale was horrendous. Even in a show about zombies it was making me question the realism.
The level of sophistication and planning that went into the whole Negan trap was just way too over the top.

Then the lame "cliffhanger" ending... as though the show needed a cliffhanger to bring in viewers. Just kill the person and deal with the fall out to start the next season.

Or the big cliffhanger from the previous episode (Daryl being shot), only to casually throw him in a scene near the end of the finale. "Oh yeah, there's Daryl in the van. He's fine."

I'm still going to watch but this is probably the last season I hang around unless I really enjoy it.

Is this like how you "don't listen" to B&B? I look forward to your weekly reviews each Monday.

Motherdick, I was shocked at the second one. Well, not really, but I was shocked there was a second one.

That episode was fucked up.

I thought he was going to still make Rick do it.

I was hoping Carl was going to get his head caved in and Eugene. The show has been stale for years, I might stick with it for the season now..new blood.

I thought the return episode was pretty well done keeping the tension ratcheted up. Wasn't sure how graphic they were going to make the killings
but thought they struck just the right cord and it was pretty brutal for cable TV. Neegan making Walking Dead great again.

Based on spoilers from people that read the comics, I assumed it was going to be Glenn. When Abraham got it, I thought it was a bit of an easy out. Then...hell. That was too much for me... I don't mind a character dying but how they showed it, Id rather he died getting eaten by the walkers under the dumpster. That scene last night was worse than if we had to watch him getting devoured.

That was the point, he had to break Rick.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is, excuse the pun, killing it in his role as Negan. Andrew Lincoln and Chandler Riggs also were terrific in their scenes last night.

JDM was fantastic.

I hate to root for Negan at all but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little pleasure from seeing Rick brought down from his pedestal. Rick is probably my least liked character on the show. It's odd how much I dislike him.

Glenn didn't break Rick.

It was the stuff with Carl that finished him off.

At least for now.

I know this isn't the show of logical consistency but I think Negan really takes it up a notch in terms of things that just don't make sense.

The guy is clearly an unhinged psychopath. There is no way he is a good leader to his own people and many of them seem to follow him out of fear. The other bases and groups that Rick's group killed last season were living in far worse conditions than Rick and his crew were. They also didn't seem like the kind of people that would be happy working with someone like Negan and the way he is working his way into power. I know the reason is "fear" of him but they were so far away from him Negan was either powerless or indifferent to save them. Eventually, he got around to revenge but it was mostly to assimilate them with a trade that was horrible in terms of numbers for the group.

Now, imagine you are one of his core army. How have you not gotten together and killed Negan yet? He's got a bat while you have assault rifles, he let multiple groups of yours die, he made you watch a completely unhinged torturing of another group of people, and you don't look like you are living a happy life in the least with your old beat up cars and terrible living conditions. Also, he keeps on attacking groups like this who he makes really mad and scared who will obviously eventually rise up against him. He made it clear in his speeches this was how he rules and none of his army even seemed to flinch at what he is doing.

It was a cool episode though. I just hope this isn't a whole season of Negan being this psychopathic supervillian that everyone just follows and dies along side until we get to the eventual cathartic scene of Rick cutting his throat. I mean, I'll be cheering like I'm watching a baseball game when it happens but I still have questions about the true believability of Negan's network.

Usually the most ruthless and violent take over, like any other leader who killed his way to the top..Capone, Gotti or Jeff Fort or hundreds of others..with the World under seige with zombies, I'd expect the most ruthless to move up the ladder rather quickly.

They have to reward their followers though. Negan's group really seems to lack any rewards.

They've already played the angle of a seemingly pristine community having a seedy underbelly (Governor / Woodbury)

I'm sure the conditions in Negan's group can't be that bad...but they couldn't go the route of another quaint looking settelment...so they've gone the militaristic route with Negan's group. But since they get 50% of all loot the communities under them bring in...I'm sure they're living alright.

That episode was hard to watch.
