I don't have to imagine it. We will be seeing it in a little over a week.

This guy is having a fantastic year and yet I still hate him for his inability to throw to 1st and his requirement of a cabana boy catcher.

He doesn't need to throw to first if they never get there.

Also, I'm guessing you hate Greg Maddux too?

Chill the fuck out. Lester is who Arrieta talks about being - an ace. You're good.

This, exactly this. Arrieta is closing fast on Samardzija "talk a good game but get your shit pushed in when it counts" territory.

Jake a little too touch and go with his location and stuff for me to invest heavily in him but everyone acts like he sucked this year. In comparison to last years ELITE and historic production....yes...but he was 18-8 with a 3.10 this year. Thats still pretty fucking good. Lester was phenomenal this year but aside from it he has had only 1 additional season where his stats were better than Jake's this year. They are both pretty damn good.

Yes Jake came through too. 1 more year of team control. Maybe he takes a 3-4 year deal at 22M ir so if he has another good year next year but he has indicated he wants 5-7 years at 25-30M per so we shall see...

all Boras clients say they control the negotiations in the years before the negotiations begin

You don't hire Boras to be reasonable or to find the best fit

If Jake has a decent year next year, solid playoff run I'd see 5/125 but he's going to want 6 /180 or something crazy like that . It's going to be his only payout so he's going to try and get as much as he can. Lester earned every dime of his entire contract this post season for me.

you didn't say that last year.

He will ask and receive seven years.

Not from the Cubs.

I wouldn't be surprised if he were traded this off season.

That's a little skewed, though. Arrieta's numbers were very front-heavy. The first month or two, he was pitching as well as he was last year and had a no-hitter. After that, he became pretty average. He also received more run support (sorry JORR) than any pitcher in MLB.

I wanted to throw a truck of cash at David Price. Thank God I don't make decisions.

Not even close. $25 million per year should get you more than 8-6 with a 3.96. His WAR is 0.6.

I know he's still having that clunker game every three or so starts, but I'm really enjoying days like today. With this being the year where his salary is at its highest (27.5M), its a nice reminder that he can still be a solid #1. Probably Theo's best free agent contract for the Cubs to date.

He will look like the leader through the end of the season and Scherzer will win it because the writers suck balls.
