Once you factor in the fact that Nas ain't all that bright it doesn't seem so bad.

The amount of trivial things folks seem to take potshots at others for is kinda off-putting.

At least Nas seems to have a sense of humor.

For the record, I was of the belief that we NEEDED Brandon McCarthy to go along with Lester or it was a failed off-season.

I have a friend who vociferously defends the Mike Leake signing. That's going to look real bad in a year or two.

Yes.

Through Maddux's first 3 seasons he was 26-26 (hi JORR) with a 4.21 ERA, 3.83 FIP and a 1.425 WHIP.

Hendricks is 31-17 (hi JORR) with a 2.87 ERA, 3.29 FIP and a 1.067 WHIP.

However, both had their first "great" season at age 26.

He was 8-18 on terrible Cub teams in his first two seasons when he shouldn't have even been in the big leagues. He went 18-8 when he was 22 and I don't think he ever had another losing season until he was 40 years old on another shitty Cubs team.

Winners win even on terrible teams. Sale versus Quintana, right?

The 2014 Cubs were bad. 7-2.

Are you making a silly argument that Quintana is better than Sale?

In any case, Greg Maddux was a winning pitcher in over 700 career starts. I hardly think pointing out a season and a half where he had bad records on terrible teams before he was old enough to drink is evidence of anything.

I'm not saying anything except Kyle Hendrick's first three years are vastly superior to Greg Maddux's. I also stated that their Age 26 seasons were breakout seasons for both, and Kyle Hendricks had a superior season when those are compared as well.

Hendricks is a good pitcher. I wouldn't bet on him being as good as Maddux, but he certainly could be.

I'm only talking about the things that have happened. I'm predicting nothing in this thread.

There have been many pitchers throughout history that have been better than Greg Maddux in their first two or three seasons. Kyle Hendricks is hardly unique in that regard.

Greg Maddux was not a power pitcher. He sucked.
