For years & years now...I have always handed out the full size candy bars / bags of candy. Kids comments are priceless....or they were anyway. Now, most of them are used to it.

Aren't you guys too old to be Trick or Treating?

I hate the 13 year olds that trick or treat without a costume. I don't care if you are 31, I'll give you candy if you wear a costume and say trick or treat. These tweens show up in a hoodie and jeans and just hold open their pillowcases. I'll usually smash the candy in my hands as I'm dropping it in the bag for those assholes. Enjoy a smashed to hell reese's cup you jerks!!

Its a social contract, you have to dress up as something and say trick or treat.

Halloween is so gay now. there are hardly any kids wandering the streets anymore. 2 reasons:

1. the hours are when its still light out. like city mandated. This is garbage. a bunch of people walking around in the early evening is just the stupidest thing ever.

2. They aren't even walking the streets anymore. These dam churches are ruining everything. "FALL FESTIVALS OF FUN" is what they call it and kids just walk around inside playing carnival games and getting bags of candy for doing nothing! Trunk or treat!!! HORSESHIT. STAHP. But remember! no ghouls or blood or witches!

disclaimer : my mom runs the one for our church. i refuse to take the kids. we knock on the doors at 9:00 at night like you are supposed to. my kids are usually disappointed. and my wife angry.

"Halloween Hours" are ridiculous. Nut up for 1 day of the year, and answer the door for some kid knocking at 8:45. The worst are the towns that have their scheduled trick or treating time, and it isn't even on frickin' Halloween.

what an evening it used to be.

one adult would man the chair and the bowl. one parent would take the kids trick or treating. we would be gone for hours! eventually you got old enough to where you could go with your friends all by yourself and you'd just run around with a hockey mask and freddy fingers scaring the shit out of everyone. An amazing night.

now. its lets go get the bullshit daytime candy then come home and eat dinner. so dumb.

I do enjoy what trick or treating has turned into for parents.....

...wandering the neighborhood, drink in hand, loosely monitoring your kids....

(There's a guy in my neighborhood who dresses up as a Miller High Life delivery guy and passes out beers to parents)

9 is a reasonable time. right? most of these are done at 7! SEVEN!

9 is way too late. I have little kids, I don't want a crowd of 7 loud 10 year olds at my house banging on the door at 8:45. Lights get shut off when the kids go to bed. Hell my 6 year old is in bed by 830 if he has school the next day.

A the memory of a great time with the kids that is only available for a few years to both of you in your collective lives doesn't need to be altered or obliterated with alcohol.

I'm not sure when it became acceptable rather than ridiculed for every children's event to include alcohol for parents.
