I would think the extension would work better to extend to the Walmart shopping center over by 111th/Dan Ryan since there's a lot more traffic that way.

I think they're pretty much limited to existing rights-of-way down there.

Does all new trackage have to be elevated or can they get away with making a good deal of this street-level?

Are we looking at being screwed with our current configuration of the L system for the foreseeable future? With the movement into urban centers I'd love to see faster east/west public trans than a dumb bus.

I don't know. I'm guessing no new lines unless the Electric gets turned into ersatz L service, and that wouldn't be east-west, either.

As far as transit enthusiasts go, I'm not much of one. I don't really know anything about trains themselves, and I don't get any of the engineering or logistical aspects of this. Mostly I just like the idea of stations that make for interesting and attractive public spaces. I'm an arts kid, fundamentally.
