ISIS wouldn't put up with this kind of nonsense.

My wife and I have struggled with this for a long time. A lot of times we just drive separately to things.

if you'd cut back on the cross-dressing, maybe you and the wife could ride together.

See, I usually tell them I'm going and they tend to scramble after me to catch up. Works out really well on vacations and such...

They had a trip planned to go to some pumpkin thing, and they were all supposed to go right when we got to my in-laws' house. We got here at 11:00; It is now 1:00, and they just managed to get in the car. I'm sure they'll be in the car another fifteen minutes before they actually leave.

Everything is an emergency, and everything has to be perfect before they can go. Oh, and they pack about 500 things to take with, none of which are needed. It's infuriating because it makes me nervous when they're getting ready for two fucking hours. JUST GO ALREADY.

My in-laws and wife as well. What irritates me, is when they wanna go somewhere when it is going to be crowded. Like the Pumpkin farms now. Get there early, right when it opens and enjoy without the crowd. My brother in law tried to pull this late shit last year in the middle of October at like noon. I was like, fuck no I am not going.

As for every day life, I give the wife a time that we are leaving. I will leave your ass at home.

I call it, living on European time.

They think it's funny when I tell them how rude it is to steal time from other people. If you are going to take an hour to get ready then you start getting ready an hour before you are supposed to leave. It seems like a simple enough plan to me.

It's interesting that so many women are like this. It's even funnier because my wife will act like I am disorganized and unprepared. The truth, IMO, is that she and MANY women are just making life more complicated than it needs to be. If I forget to bring one small thing on a trip, such as my daughter's water bottle, you know what I do? I stop at McDonald's and get a water. Problem solved! And I was able to leave an hour earlier than she would have!

I have a family of in law's who do it. They either don't understand or care that my family, who show up 15 minutes early to be on time, stare daggers at them when they show up 2 hours late for a family party. Then the MIL wants to demand that food not get served until everyone arrives.

Respectfully, my dear:

LOL

I started hosting Thanksgiving, and had people want to show up late and of course want dinner delayed. My answer is, this is the time I set.

Its taken over a decade but my wife has made tremendous progress with this. Now if we are late, it is in the 10-15 minute range which can easily be passed off using the kids as our scapegoat.

That's some serious passive-aggressive behavior. That shit doesn't fly in my house.

We host Thanksgiving every year. None of our guests have more than a twenty minute drive, and we don't eat dinner at 3:00. If you can't get here by 6:00, we are starting without you.

My family is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Christmas Eve dinner, one of my brothers tries to put the food on and start eating before I get home FROM THE SAME MASS HE ATTENDED.

So is mine. Both my parents would show up 15 minutes early for anything. I try to do the same. That's what makes the opposite so infuriating.

I try to be late to things when I'm dealing with my family. I've shown up on time to MANY events and the host wasn't there or no one else showed up for at least an hour after I arrived.

I make (or have my people do it) home made food for the feast that usually requires it to stay in a refrigerator and needs some last minute prep. I also stay until the last note of the closing hymn is sung. If there is a 30 minute difference in time, that would be a lot.

would leaving prior to that be akin to leaving a game in the 8th inning to beat traffic ?

Only with a lot more eternal damnation.

we are never late. however every sunday morning for church its like we are all slackards and are going to be late and she's in a huff and a rush most of the morning. there are times where she has to be there early and its just me and the kids and its never rushed. we just take our time and we are always there at the same exact time. the problem is she is never in control of that situation. she spends the entire time getting ready. so it probably seems like chaos from her vantage point. we have been married 13 years and she still doesn't trust me with this.

she wakes up at 6 on sundays to begin sunday preparations (stay at home mom, outside of a function here or there, this is her dress up time)
