The Subdivision keeps trying to project this level of intense sadness on Cub fans if they don't win the WS this year. Am I alone as a fan for not thinking this way? This season has shown that the team is built and looks to be here for the long haul. If they don't win this year, I'm not going to be tearing out my hair. I expect them to remain competitive for the foreseeable future. That's all you can ask out of a team, make the playoffs regularly and hope you catch the hot streak and win one of them. I'm looking at this as more of where the Cardinals have been for the last decade or so and not like a flash in the pan.

Will I be upset if they lose? Of course, but I'm not going to remember this season as a heartbreak if they lose in the NLDS to a very good Mets or Giants team.

Of course. This is all spot-on even though you will be mocked by SOME.

Yup. Defeatist attitude. Might be that common link JORR was talking about.

Wants to be like the Cardinals. Doesn't care too much if they don't win it all.

DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.

I remember 2003 when the Cubs had a young rotation set to "dominate the NL" for the foreseeable future.

Been walking to first, it's an easy time, while facing your average bums
Lord knows when Cueto throws it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the CFMB to talk about things to come
Sweet dreams and Maddon's schemes in pieces on the ground

Completely transparent justification.

Theo and company put you through a lot of unnecessary losing. Demand championships now.

The forseeable future is fragile for any team which is why you don't commit the sin of purposely throwing several away.

You can't "demand championships" in baseball. If you have leadership that gets the team to the playoffs every year, they're keepers.

Sure you can. Many said Theo would get double his salary of they won it all. Why is that if he had no control?

I know it's scary but don't worry. You will get one. Don't dilute it by saying it doesn't matter.

I never said it "doesn't matter." I said it would be idiotic if the Cubs made the playoffs for five straight years and then demanded new management for lack of a WS title. Your best odds at a WS is to keep getting chances.

Why would you not be sad if you fail to win the World Series?

C'mon Hank.

Sustained success in baseball is never guaranteed.

The Cardinals will be better, the Brewers will be good soon, and the Pirates can go either way but will probably be better.

Need to win it all this year.

It truly is bizarre to seemingly not give a shit if your team wins a championship when that team is the best team in the league. The fuck is the point of being a fan in that case?

This is all moot since they'll win this year, but still.

MANY of you guys are spinning yourselves in circles.

If anything, I'm envious of Hank.

I have some anxiety today. This happened last year too when the playoffs were close.

By Wednesday/Thursday I'll be a mess.

I almost vomited before the Wildcard game last year.

Because most teams don't even get the chances, and getting in multiple years is your best shot at winning one.

Right but if you didn't win one after 5 years of making the playoffs, you don't think you'd be asking for changes?

Maybe not to the front office, but to the coaching staff?

He spent one sentence saying that and several other sentences explaining why he will still be happy when they lose. You've said similar things MANY times in talking about making the playoffs being the only goal. As I said, it's a bizarre mentality that I guess is steeped with defense mechanisns, which I guess is understandable.

Hank don't let the Subdivision bother you.

Let them FOCUS on Jerry's CHURROS.

Us Cubs need to keep our EYES ON THE PRIZE.

This is why I like Blackhawk fans. They don't hide like cowards. Its also why they win titles. One Goal.

This board will be extremely inactive in November. I'll miss JORR, dolphin, Frank and Hatchet.
