We are completely satisfied with being competitive and do not demand a championship

Can you at least occasionally be funny?

The King Troll thread was sarcastic, BTW.

That does seems to be the prevailing feeling among most Cub fans in the board. It's odd.

It's easy to say that you demand a championship as a fan but what does that entail? Do you intend to stop watching the Packers if they don't win a superbowl this year? It's a meaningless statement.

I want my team to continually make the playoffs and keep getting a shot at winning the title. That goes for every sport.

Then you are admitting the greatness of the White Sox between 1951 and 1967 and from 1990-94!

Yes, those early 90s Sox teams were great. I would have loved to trade places as fan during that time.

I cant speak to 51-67.

The Packers are a contender every year and every year they fall short I get pissed and want the coach fired. This year will likely be the same. Obviously you can't do anything about it as a fan, I just don't get the whole shrug your shoulders and move on attitude. Yeah, that's probably the healthiest reaction to have, I just don't get the point of being a fan if you're not mad when they lose.

That's the whole thing. I never said I wont be mad, my OP said I will be upset. It just wont be soul crushing like previous losses. I'll be able to throw a remote, curse out my TV and then move on with my life knowing that the window is firmly open.

In this slackard generation it is considered a negative attribute to aspire to greatness.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that deep down, most of the sub-division actually wants the Cub to win it all this year. Imagine the dread they must be feeling knowing that at some point here in the very near future, their worst baseball nightmare is going to come to life. They'll never admit to it, but late at night when they're alone with their most private thoughts, they plead..."Please. Just get it over with."

All except for Regular Reader. That dude hates Cubdom beyond belief.

I'll absolutely be happy for some of the Cubs fans here when they win.

Obviously not leash, but MANY others.

Wow. Steve is sounding like more of a real fan than half of the Cubs fans here
