he did. a lot

and pence did too. a lot.

but when called out for it, they both shut the fuck up and acknowledged it.

i very much respect both of these guys. they acted like adults tonight. yes, passions flare, they blurt out to make their case.. but when told to be quiet, they both shut up and said sorry.

That won't be the narrative, Ike. I don't agree with it, but MANY will say Kaine was not presidential.

bullshit. he was picked to interject a sense of human into clintons campaign. he does that. he did that tonight. what is surprising that he is smart. very smart.

FWIW, MSNBC commentators mostly have Pence winning the debate. They didn't like the hypernous of Kaine. However, they also think some of Pence's defenses will be shown to be false once they are contrasted with previous video comments which may be the more lasting highlights on The Daily Show et al.

Democrats will love what Kaine did. Maybe that was the goal.

Kellyanne Conway is truly one of the funnier of the Trump campaign spinmeisters. She said post debate that their campaign is about the issues.

I think it would be a novel ideas for moderators to actually moderate these debates.

Wow. How anyone can see Kain as having won that debate is beyond me. He made non stop personal attacks and was OBSESSED with Trump's tax returns. He went to that well 20-30 times. There was LITERALLY A QUESTION FROM THE MODERATOR ABOUT IT BEING FAIR TO LEGALLY PAY THE MINIMAL IN TAXES. Am I taking crazy pills?

Pence came across like a f*kin man last night and Kain embarrassed himself and lost credibility with comments like "Trump wants to deport all mexicans"...

The final answer, the pro-life move, was risky as it wont sit well with moderates but likely played well with reds sitting on the fence.

We discussed why we thought it was clear. Kaine won a debate on substance by a mile.

Trump is a disgrace to the human race, yes, but the tax thing baffles me. Are people suggesting that he should voluntarily pay more in taxes? There's no company in the world that does that. I don't even know how you would go about doing it... send a voluntary check to the IRS?

It's the hypocrisy of his message.

When you rail on the US' NATO allies not "paying their fair share" but then you haven't paid any taxes for 20 years.

Then we discover the advantageous tax position was created by being a very poor businessman.

Not a good look there.

It is like when Romney had to be apologetic for his wealth.

Then the critique should be messaged that way, but it never is. The critique is really more about his calling out of NATO that makes him hypocritical, not the fact that he lowered his own tax burden.

More times than not, it's just "he hasn't paid taxes." It's true, but what's the alternative? Donating money to the government?

Pence described the D ticket as "career politicians", as if he is not. He showed that he's just as poor as any other GOP "leader"/career politician with poor economic ideas, baffling ideas on the military, personal sleaze, bigotry & hypocrisy

Pence attempted to obfuscate Trump's own words by claiming he isn"t a polished politician, as if the man hasn't had the opportunity to brush up in the 17 or so years he's talked about running - or in the FIFTEEN months he's actually been running?!? How many dogs have been eating Trump's homework, inquiring minds want to know. When in their world is he to be expected to prepare like a serious person?

Pence is a horrible liar, a homophobic zealot who can't answer honest questions about his dominatrix. Ladies & Gentlemen, Presenting your 2020 GOP frontrunner. Perfect figurehead.

They're trying to bait him into releasing his taxes and call him a failure at the same time. They're correctly banking that MANY American voters aren't sophisticated enough to understand it.

I think it's a good strategy to try to pressure him to release his taxes. I doubt it will work. If it does MANY will see him as another rich gut that cheats on his taxes and others will question if he is really a successful businessman. They would have successfully turned his strength into a liability.

One of his platform is to simplifys the tax code so it cannot be "abused" by the wealthy.

The press has publicized how much of Trump's wealth is derived from taking advantage of the tax code. This raises a large question on whether he's sincere in one of his key platforms.

Both of them came off as better candidates than the two actually running for president. That said, Kaine also came off like a complete tool who wouldn't shut up and let Pence attempt an answer. Some say he came out firing, I say he came off poorly. Plenty of reaction that way online, too. Letting each other speak was one thing Trump and Hillary actually did well (save for a few one-word Trump retorts - "Wrong!"). Pence knows what he's doing and actually angled himself into a 2020 face-off with Paul Ryan.

Ultimately, this debate doesn't matter for the current election, though. They didn't change anything.

Kaine was nowhere near as bad as Biden but the media is making a big deal out of his interruptions but praised Biden for not allowing Ryan to speak
