Leash is right. It's boring around here.

Let's play a solid round of "Ask a board member anything"

JORR: What is the biggest band you saw in a small venue back with JORR used to rock and roll?

Actually, we were gone by the time that happened. I didn't find out until the next afternoon.

I saw Nirvana at Club Dreamerz. I didn't know anything about them and wasn't really paying attention. They sounded loud and sloppy like many other bands of the time. I think they were a four piece and Grohl was not there.

I am going to answer for JORR:

The Riveria. That place sucks. Sound is bad, smell is worse.

Well, you can't really go wrong with any of the Jam-associated venues, they all suck
Was at the Park West a few weeks ago for the first time in probably 15 years...it's such a weird place

One of my underage buddies and I wandered into the Lincoln Tap Room circa July 1991 to check out the New Duncan Imperials. At the time, some horrendous opening act was playing and drove us out of the bar after only one beer. To this day, I still can't muster much enthusiasm for the Smashing Pumpkins.

I've also attended a couple of living room concerts by Jeff Tweedy. Those went much better than the above.

I've always kind of like the Park West. It sounds okay in there. I like to stand at the bar on the stage left side. The last thing I saw there was Ian Hunter last year some time. Freedy Johnston opened and he got fucked up after his set. He was running around like a fucking loon.

I kind of like the Park West, too. The best show I ever saw there was the Jayhawks. I couldn't believe how good Louris and Olson sounded in person--their voices were absolutely amazing. Incidentally, Neko Case is like that, too.

until recently, the best beer choice at Jam venues was Fat Tire (yea think about that)
sometime recently they added the pint cans of Daisy Cutter....fucking 11$.....at Empty Bottle they're 6

it's definitely better than the Vic, Riv or Aragon, that's for sure
it's just weird- with all the tables it feels like a nightclub more than a concert venue

I saw Radiohead at NIU's Holmes Student Center's Duke Ellington Ballroom in 1993. Saw Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam there in 1991. I miss the old days of a college radio "scene".

I saw a wild Replacements show there some time in the mid-80s.

Must be tons of who heck are the "Smashing Pumpkins?" stories. Mine was Dekalb, 1991: RHCP, Pearl Jam, and who the heck are the Smashing Pumpkins?" I heard Siva before at least, which I loved.
