This one may take awhile. I don't sense the level of acrimony between Lewis and Rahm this time. I just don't know if the funds are there. They may try and plug it with TIF money but that really isn't a long term solution. Lewis agreed to an earlier contract but her delegates nixed it.

Do you think if that contract had made it to the teachers it would of passed?

Trust to your instincts
If it's safely restrained
Lightning reactions
Must be carefully trained

Heat of the moment
Curse of the young
Spit out your anger
Don't swallow your tongue

[Chorus:]
Stick it out
Don't swallow the poison
Spit it out
Don't swallow your pride
Stick it out
Don't swallow your anger
Spit it out
Don't swallow the lies

Natural reflex
Pendulum swing
You might be too dizzy
To do the right thing

Trial under fire
Ultimate proof
Moment of crisis
Don't swallow the truth

[Chorus]

Each time we bathe our reactions
In artificial light
Each time we alter the focus
To make the wrong moves seem right

You get so used to deception
You make yourself a nervous wreck
You get so used to surrender
Running back to cover your neck

Don't know. They voted at a 96% rate for the strike authorization. However the vote had a totalitarian feel to it. Vote was not private.

Only had what 2 paychecks so far? ...should have collected 2 checks in October and 2 more in November and then struck after a check in December... Poor planning IMO

Every job I have had gave you the option of 21 checks or 26 to stretch out over summer. I would assume CPS does the same thing but not sure.

Sounds like Rahm broke and will be giving up some of the hundreds of millions in TIF money to the schools.

That option stopped last year

It was actually about 3 yrs ago. No more deferred pay. The board stopped it.

Making new teachers take 7 percent cut will eventually kill the union. It will take about 10-15 years though before their numbers are up to turn tables on the older teachers. Also, my guess is you see massive cuts in nontenured teachers this year to get more with the 7% pay cut.
