Schieffer is I believe a Texan about 80. My old man is from OK of the same age. They look similar at this point in their lives. They sound the same. Schieffer's lower lip was trembling as he quietly spoke (in as few words possible) of his disgust with what he just witnessed. He hoped to never see another debate for the presidency of the United States of America as he had just witnessed. This was something you expect in a banana republic. We should expect better. He was particularly not kind to Trump, but said both performed poorly. He was embarrassed by the performance of both and one of them will be your next president.

Not knowing everyone's age, Face the Nation, and his approach to it, was excellent journalism. His work beginning at the time of Kennedy's assassination is incredible. Few possess his skill, and fewer attempted to deliver meaningful journalism toward the end of his career.

His response was my old man. The weepy look of an old man's eyes as they reach the end of the mortal coil is the same. Most importantly, he was accurate in his assessment of what he/we just witnessed.
