The NFL fined Antonio Brown $24,000 for doing the McCringleberry end zone celebration. Bogus.

Didn't that happen last season, too? Terrance Williams?

Yes, apparently that's too much thrusting for the NFL to allow.

The Lance Moore celebration gets me every time. I guess Kenny Stills was fined for participating in a choreographed end zone celebration, but I don't think Moore was.

EDIT: Moore was fined also.

I don't get it either. After the game, Tomlin was asking what exactly are the grounds for these unsportsmanlike penalties?

I know the extra emphasis, and restrictions of celebrations is a result of TO's escapades. Honestly, I thought TO got a little carried away running to the Dallas star that one game, but other than that I pretty much always found his celebrations entertaining. The league should embrace it, and not be so paranoid about high schoolers or college players imitating it.

That... Is... Kind of strange to not get a penalty there compared to Antonio's dance Kirkwood.

Does anyone outside of the NFL give a shit about players dancing after scoring a touchdown? I blame Jerry Richardson.

I do remember TO saying once (paraphrase) that there were a bunch of old, white coaches and front office people who were making a huge deal out of his celebrations when he was still allowed to do them. He specifically referenced Mike Holmgren.

Eventually, they may have to ease up on this bullshit flagging and fines if they want to remain the most popular sport in the country.

Yeah I don't get the complaint that it takes away from the game either. What does fantasy football do besides force people to care about statistics, and not the final score?

It's just a bunch of old, rich white guys with sticks up their asses who are upset because they don't like brown people...even though the brown people make them a ton of money.

Yes, save the children from these "sexually suggestive" celebrations.

I think it would be socially responsible for players to act out a celebratory skit in which they demonstrate the proper ways to obtain consent.

To an extent, I do understand the NFL's response to taunting. High school football games, and the crowds who watch them are less contained. Passion can get out of control on the field, and in the stands. Excessive showboating could lead to some pretty horrible situations nowadays. However, you would think a high school coach would have more control over his players than an NFL coach over his multi million dollar WR.

Either way, I still love the extra celebrations. I think they do add entertainment value. These crotchety owners need to hurry up and pass the baton to to speak.

I hate the NFL.
The end zone celebrations turn the league into the WWE.
I could live with it as part of the game, though if the NFL was consistent with it on all plays to all players. They're not.
Fuck the NFL.

I have never had a problem with TD celebrations. When I was young Billy Whiteshoes Johnson was the man as far as that goes. What I hate is all the celebrations within the other "regular" plays. I guess I can deal with a sack dance but every damn catch or first down does not need that stuff. If I were an opposing player I would be more upset and feel "taunted" on those rather than a TD. Chris Carter comes to mind in that regard.

Agreed. They should be fining players who celebrate a sack or first down when losing by double digits.

I laugh when I see guys dancing after making routine plays, while his team is behind by 28 points. There is no greater offender than Roy Williams. That goof always drew attention to himself after making a first down catch, even though the Lions were getting killed.

Bonus points for a season ending ACL injury during said celebration after the game is decided.

The thing that kills me are the guys that are always getting up looking for a flag.
