Why is this the only sport where the coaches dress like the players?

Is it a comfort thing because its usually hot and you have to do it 6 days a week and the dugout is a pretty dirty place? Would be too much of a pain in the ass to dress like a normal adult?


Or is it an outdated tradition thing like tobacco smoke enemas and slavery?



Either way, it's fucking stupid and needs to be stopped. I'm not saying everyone needs to look like Pat Riley, but at least give the coaches a uniform that differentiates them from the players like kahki's/slacks and team golf polo or something like that.


Or go the other way and make ALL coaches in all sports wear full uniforms. I personally would've loved to see Rick Majerus in a Utes uniform while rocking some converse hi tops.

It ends up making the most sense for guys who walk/stand on the field of play or run drills in batting practice to be in uniform. There will never be another Connie Mack, so you can't very well wear a suit to manage a ballgame. You could wear a tasteful polo shirt tucked into a nice pair of slacks with some comfortable dress shoes, but then I wouldn't know if the guy is there to replace the pitcher or fix his hard drive.
