Does anyone honestly believe Trump is trying to win the election?

There's no way the personal attacks on the Clintons could ever be considered a winning political strategy. But they would certainly seem to be a clever marketing strategy for Trump TV when it launches as a network devoted to discrediting and/or destroying the HRC presidency. Trump wants viewers, not voters.

Not bad, and post election he can go scorched earth on republicans cementing the rise of his true third party. We are only watching the first iteration of his trilogy. This is simply Trump Rising.

I don't think he really cares, either way. He's spitting fire and dropping bombs, win or lose.

Shows how bad of a candidate Clinton is that this is even close. But, apparently it's "Her Turn" so the field was cleared and here we are.

One of the more depressing and curious moments in U.S. political history.

Plain and simple it shows how bad a candidate Trump is...and it shows how far off the rails the GOP has gone. They have a huge "lowest common denominator" group that loves to hate anyone different...plus another significant number who will vote for the GOP candidate, no matter who it is or how terrible they are. The tail truly does wag the dog.

She is the worst campaigner I think I have ever seen run for president. I know just about everyone talks about how smart and engaged she is behind doors but when she is in front of the cameras it looks like her brain is a step or 2 behind and she is extremely awkward. She appears to be faker than most politicians. For someone who has been around one of the best retail politicians ever you would think she would pick up some of it through osmosis.

Agree with the first part of your comment.

The second part of your comment tho, applies to democrats as well.

What does she need to do? Trump isn't pressing her on issues. The smart play is to sit back and let him talk.

I don't she can be completely silent because then his lies become the truth. Hillary isn't your average politician. If someone said she killed Jesus there would be millions of people who would believe it. Prevent defense is unlikely to cost her the presidency but it could hurt her first term. She should destroy him.

Agree 100%. They have sold their soul to the the right wing talk show circuit crowd and it is absolutely burning their asses right now. This group has gotten quite wealthy over the past 20 + years by being liberal media/democratic/Clinton haters. They realize that if they simply stick to that particular playbook they will remain viable in Republican politics.

This strategy is absolutely killing the Republican party. A Cadre of Anti intellectual types i.e. Hannity and Limbaugh in particular are considered major players in the Republican Party. Can't possibly of their supporters and expect to be elected President. For all the talk about liberal media there really isn't and hasn't been an equivalent to these two. There also hasn't been an equivalent to Fox News either for that matter.

Truth be told I wanted Jeb to get the nomination. If not him then a guy like Kasich, Santorum, or even Graham. At least there would have been an exchange of ideas between the candidates. It would have been interesting to see her debate guys that are concerned about substantive issues.

The irony of the anyone else would be destroying Hillary crowd is the fact that Trump was considered just that guy. Wasn't Trump considered the perfect guy to take on Hillary because he was non establishment? This was a non establishment year allegedly. People bought into his garbage and now they are complaining about it. Too late. The thinkers within the party attempted to tell people who the guy was and no one listened.

I didn't think going after him because of his temperament was necessarily a winning strategy to be honest. I think exposing him as a political idiot was the more effective play. At this point she really doesn't have to engage him though I think she is at her best when does. She dismantled him in that first debate and at that point the election was over. This past weekend stuff was anti climactic though it is receiving a lot of press.

If Hillary would have run in 12 she would have given Obama a serious run for his money. She didn't for the sake of party and she is being rewarded for it. She is the best candidate that the Dems could have put forward in this particular year.

You must have missed Kerry's run for President. He was able to be swiftboated. Do you really think something like that would have happened to her? He actually had the truth on his side and blew it. Bush also was the worst incumbent Presidential candidate of my lifetime and he still lost.

In so many ways you are symbolic of what today's Republican Party happens to be.

Are you still going to get your popcorn together and pull up a chair or has that gone by the boards in lieu of recent developments?

Kerry and Romney came to mind but I expect Hillary to be better because of Bill. She made the same mistake this year that she made in 2008 but Bernie wasn't strong enough. Having the Obama data machine on her side doesn't hurt either.

Definitely saw similarities to 08 too. She waited too long to engage Obama. The primaries were such that everything was front loaded with Super Tuesday determining the outcome. She was the better candidate during the latter stages but it was already over by that point. They ran a much better campaign during the early stages. They put her on her heels and she never could close the gap. The media was firmly in Obama's camp too which didn't hurt.

Based on that 2-hour deal on Clinton and Trump from PBS' Frontline, I really do think he's trying to win b/c apparently it's been on his mind to some degree for 30-some years now ... but I don't think he's trying to win in the sense you or I might otherwise be trying to win ... meaning he takes very little, if any, proven or informed advice, particularly if it in any way clashes with his thoughts on the matter, be it generally or in that particular moment.

Said another way, he's trying to win it by his 'rules' and in his 'style' first and foremost. I think it's not a terrible bet to suggest that if one could divine up some grand oracle that could, without risk of error, tell him exactly he needed to do or say as well as when and how, but it involved him doing, or not doing, what 'felt right' to him, whatever the hell that might mean, he would flatly refuse to consider the information.

Who knows though.

Idk how at 24yo Tomi Lahren is taken seriously by anyone as a knowledgable political commentator, but I often find myself thinking of the dirty things she's into. Maybe bukkake? Old rich guys? Maybe she's one of those ultra conservative chicks that's into black guys? I could see 50 shades type antics. Well w/e she's into I'm sure she's no dead fish in the bedroom (Get at me DiCaro. I'm not scared).

Here she is defending Donald Trump's pussy grabbing remarks.

This is what is has come to. The anti-Hillary crowd is now holding out hope that an asylum- laden computer hacker can effectively collude with a Russian dictator to influence an American election because the Republican candidate is too inept to win it on his own. There really is something wrong with this picture.

Once it all said and done he is still going to lose. In terms of political machinations this takes the cake.

Trump supporter tactics...
Step 1: Vaguely acknowledge one of Trump's many character flaws and declare it a positive.
Step 2: Immediately shift to saying Bill Clinton is worse
Step 3: Take an irrelevant sideswipe at a third party candidate to ensure the smugness hits all targets
