The two strike pitch to rizzo that bounced and went flying away from the catcher.... Is there a rule preventing a late swing followed by rizzo trying to leg out a throw to first base?

He can still be valuable as a super utility player and insurance for injury problems that might crop up. No way they can trade him without picking up a fair portion of the deal, so might as well keep him in a utility role.
