I was afraid the offense that was built on walks would struggle against pitchers that can throw strikes.

I think I have to turn this game off for my sanity, or Thursday will be tough to watch.

We still have 9 outs.

I've seen so many teams come back and score so many runs with 9 outs or less in the playoffs to avoid elimination.

I'm sure it can be done.

You need an offense though. The bumslayers cant even slay a bum bullpen/starter.

Not really.

The other team can just make a lot of errors or lose their shit about stupid stuff.

I've seen it happen.

He had a great first half, but fell off in the 2nd half and actually wound up with just a .276 average (Albert Almora hit .277) with 13 HR and 48 RBI with 84 runs scored. He also had 13 SB and was caught stealing 4 times. His greatest value, was in his OBP (.393). It will be interesting to see if the Cubs extend a qualifying offer to him, so they get a draft choice from whatever team might sign him to a long term deal. I suspect they have a handshake deal that the Cubs made before signing him, to not extend a qualifying offer after this season, so he will get better offers from teams, without the loss of a draft pick hanging over their heads.

Hasn't happened to the Giants in like a decade though right? I suppose they're due.

Pat, Ron and Grote are all already talking about game 5. This thing is over. No one expects a Cub win now tonight.

Red Sox had to come back from down 0-3 before breaking their slump. It's always darkest before dawn, shit like that. Cubs got this, eventually at some point.

Whether it's one more game or a dozen, the Cubs should give this Heyward thing the rest of the season off.

8th inning defensive replacement, he'll take his next swing for the Cubs in Mesa.

That said Go Cubs.

They have struggled more VS left handed pitching all year. I pointed this out near the trade deadline, when I was in favor of trading for Ryan Braun, who hits lefties really well. That they have not fared well VS Baumgarner (save for an Arrieta 3 run homer) and Moore is no great shock. The good news is they will get Cueto in game 5 who is right handed and is someone they have faced many times. Still time to turn this one around though.

Oh yeah. This is game 6 2003 all over again. You know that they could win game 5 but they wont. Meh. Life goes on. I'll get really pissed on Thursday and then get on with my life.
