I couldn't believe it when I checked my phone and saw they scored 4 in the 9th. Had to be pretty thrilling for you Cub fans to watch.

He won't have anything to say. He will show back up in the NLCS and do his thing all over again.

Why? I hope they win for my mom's husband. The rest of you I don't care. You cannot tell me there weren't some crybabies ready to leap off buildings yesterday if you listened to the score.

Good. That's what makes the board. If we were going to let someone control content I'd still be friends with bigfan.

Perhaps you should turn your radio to something else then. You always seem to judge every Cub fan here by anything a couple meatballs on the Score say. You are the model child for the jealous Sox fan.

I agree that is what makes the board. I don't want CH banned or his contect blocked.

Congrats, Cubs fans. I'd like to see them play the Nats and send Dusty home crying.

Maybe you should read the text of my post that I highlighted. I said nothing of the board and typed the word RADIO. So maybe you should go fuck yourself?

PS you would have to look long and hard for a post of mine being in the meatball Sox-Cubs feud this playoffs.

Fell asleep around the 5th inning and woke up in the 9th as Chapman was walking onto the field. I rewound the front half of the
inning and then didn't know the ending so that was still fun to watch even though I knew the Cubs would come back to take the
lead.

Sports really are amazing. In the 6th or 7th inning, it appeared that they had no chance in hell of even making a run. The fact that they won in the 9th is almost unbelievable, considering that the Giants had their entire bullpen at their disposal. It's surreal.

On another note, this team would be at home if not for Baez. He is very important to this team. The Cubs try to get "good guys" on their roster; the problem is that many of those "good guys" seem to lack energy. Baez is fearless, and everything he does seems to bring them energy. I can deal with the occasional bone-headed decisions as long as he keeps being the spark plug like this.

  I really did. Usually Crying Jordan is badly cut and pasted into someone else's body. As soon as Don Tiny told me, it was obvious what it was, but before that I thought it was an actual player.

I'm very aware. It's just crazy that Bochy was basically able to substitute a new reliever on a batter-by-batter basis and they still lost. If one guy goes out and blows it, that's one thing. The odds of beating up on five different guys is low.

That said, never should have taken out Moore, and that's not hindsight. He had 120 pitches and had the Cubs in check all night. Never would have yanked him. (Yes, I know more than Bochy :))

The batter-by-batter strategy is awful.

That's where sabermetricks has lost his damn mind.

relievers aren't robots you plug and play. unless you're a LOOGY, it seems most relievers hate being taken out of their routine and only given one or 2 batters

It really is. I think we're seeing evidence that there may be some truth to the philosophy that having a defined role for a reliever has value. Not saying you wouldn't ever stray from it, but getting guys in in familiar situations seems to be beneficial.

Yep. Trying to play matchup every single fucking batter late in the game is ridiculous and I love seeing it blow up in a managers face.

I don't really think it would have mattered what he did (other than leaving Moore in, and he might not have been able to close it out himself), all of those guys suck. But my view is that you have a bullpen of 6-8 guys. On any given day, some of them are sitting in the bullpen and they aren't good that day. You don't know they aren't good that day until you put them in the game. The more guys you bring in, the more likely you're gonna find a guy who isn't having a good day.

Did want to see a Cueto-Lester rematch because Game 1 was great. The Giants just did not have the bullpen to make it happen.

The thing about that though Mike is you can't act like Cubs fans aren't at least a little justified in acting that way. It's been 108 fucking years and their recent playoff history certainly suggests a close loss late in the game tends to send the team into a death spiral. They've proven that on several occasions. Had the White Sox not won in 05, you guys would be the same way . Until the Cubs win the WS, a great deal of their fans are always going to assume every playoff loss ( especially late inning heartbreakers) are a harbinger of doom. Maybe finally winning a series with their own late inning comeback is the start of them learning how to overcome adversity and learning how to win playoff baseball and there won't be as much angst from the fan base .
