No. I don't think it's cancer or anything serious like some of you are suggesting. He said it was elective surgery. So I'm just thinking complications from hip surgery. Hip surgery was my guess at the beginning. Maybe rehab isn't going well.

Or maybe Boers is milking his sick leave. Then he retires in January. I don't buy that he misses being on the air.

My Dad did the same thing. He got his knee and hip replaced right before he retired so he could use his company insurance and get paid for sick leave. That's what I think Boers is doing. Remember Boers had shoulder surgery a year or so ago. He's just getting all of his medical shit done on the SCORE dime before retirement. That's all.

Does it take a lot of work to be wrong so often?

Not really. Do you really miss someone who agrees consistently with Dan Bernstein?

I have no idea what the surgery was or if there are complications. Hopefully, he'll rebound, but a very small part of me wonders, since he's been in retirement now for 10 years, if he really is in any rush to get back.

Hard to feel sorry for someone who has made millions over the past years ripping down other people.

So what is going on is Terry not on the show? For how long has this been going on. Is it over for him?

Terry underwent surgery to become a black gay woman. However, the procedure left him only black and gay (one of which he already was). Rest assured, the very best CBS doctors are working to overcome this complication in the hopes that Wanda Boers will make a triumphant return to airwaves.

Terry is a guest with drinky right now. Sounds bad. Said he can't talk some days. Voice sounds bad now. So maybe it was throat surgery or something.

But Terry said he's coming back in a month or so.

I just listened to it ... his voice was fine ... he sounded like any other caller ... tinny and rambling.

He mentioned 'therapy', so I very much doubt it's vocally related. He also mentioned not employing pain meds so the previous week or so was miserable but he seemed to indicate he was doing better.

Could be other kinds of cancer as well. My cousin was diagnosed with Hodgkin's about 10 months ago, tumor was in his chest but one of the symptoms was that his voice went to shit from some kind of nerve pressure. Now it's back to about 85% of what it was pre-cancer, and they expect it to get a little better but not back completely over the next year.

since we are all speculating...i doubt it is cancer, but surgery for a benign tumor in the neck is just as reasonable.

Listened to it just now, he mentioned his voice and its quality a few times, and what I heard didn't sound like just phone compression. He also talked about his doctors and how they wanted him to talk to someone to keep his spirits up, but all he needed was Cubs baseball, so whatever it was it sounded pretty serious.

What kind of therapy would he be doing then post-surgery?

I hope it involves a dog and he has to bring it to the studio with him.

I see your dog and raise you three cats ... with separate litter pans ... Dan's nightmare.

Was it the good Hodgkin's or the bad Hodgkin's?

Terry is on right now. He sounds better. He sounds happy unlike the last time he was on the air. Voice sounds good. Guess he's pretty much recovered.

It's odd that the two times he's come on the air since he's been gone are the times when Bernstein is not there. That means something.

Terry sounds like he has been shot out of a cannon! Excited to talk about baseball, engaged, explaining specifics from last night's game. It's like the reverse of the pod people...he hasn't shown this much energy in at least 10 years. If he does come back...keep him away from Bernstein.
