This reminds me of a story I heard Dave Wakeling tell on one of the Sirius channels. Wakeling's dad thought it was stupid that the Beat was writing their own music. He told Dave, "Listen, Frank Sinatra didn't write any music. All he did was croon and get tons of ass. You guys should record something good like 'Can't Get Used To Losing You' and forget the songwriting bullshit."

This guy gets it.

The Beatles were also a right place/right time kind of group. Do we really think others wouldn't have discovered the same things in roughly the same period?

What do you expect from some Round lake Beach Shitkicker?

This also explains his dislike for Kevin James, the king of comedy.

I don't live in Round Lake Beach, Grandpa. Just near it.

And Kevin James sucks Sandler's cock. It's how he keeps getting work.

Don't you have a Cubs game to overreact to?

By that "logic", nobody really deserves acclaims for anything, music or otherwise ... somebody somewhere will eventually figure it out if the other guy didn't.

No, that is not true.

We just don't have to act like The Beatles are the reason that music exists today. They did some great stuff for the time period they were in and were the first to do things that were pretty cool. If the Beatles were coming of age today they would not be inventing all sorts of new things having to do with music because it isn't the beginning of the style and there really isn't that much left to invent.

It would be like if today we acted not only was Issac Newton a great scientist for his time but also that he is a great scientist compared to the people that are the elites of science now. That is obviously not true.

It is fairly common to say that the Beatles influenced pretty much all music that exists today outside of rap, and some will even argue that.

I know he is old now but he barely does anything in that song. I'm pretty sure Frank could have been just as useful.

I think I went through this exercise around here once before, and all I had were, in no particular order:

A Day in the Life
Helter Skelter
Happiness is a Warm Gun

as far as their songs that they performed.

I do admittedly like Joe Cocker's versions of With a Little Help From My Friends and She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.

Those that you picked are also my favorite's but for me,I have very seldom heard a bad Beatles song. I like their later stuff a lot better but enjoyed them all.

Everything before Revolver is completely unlistenable bubble gum crap, in my opinion.

Too clean.

Their drug albums weren't awful, but to me, they weren't good, either, save for a couple of songs.

I'd much rather listen to Brian Jones era Stones or The Kinks.

That's selling Rubber Soul a little short, don't you think? That was when their songwriting started getting more sophisticated, though Beatles for Sale and Help! (well, "Yesterday") hinted.
