I need some advice on my kid's car. Anyone hear a knowledgeable water pump, thermostat, reservoir tank expert?

Will Darkside and Scooter be here to tell you that you should just pay a professional to fix it?

Check for Nutrasweet in the pump line.

The motor is transverse mounted and the water pump is on the passenger side. Somewhere on that side I am leaking anti freeze. It only leaks under pressure meaning the car must run a few minutes for it to start. When leaking I can't tell if too high pressure in the system is pushing it out the reservoir overflow only or if the water pump is leaking. I cannot visually see the exact leak before tearing shit apart.

The heater core is on the other side as is the hoses to that so what should be simple is confusing. Some other things confusing me is that the temp gauge does not show any abnormal overheat condition, no white smoke, no crap in oil etc. So I think it is external only. Was thinking possibly the t-stat was not opening so flow is stopping and pressure building and pushing out coolant from somewhere? But with no flow no heat right?

Oh well. Thought I would throw it out there for any wrenchers. I couldn't remember if we had any.

Yup. Some of us are handy and others are not.

Well I did a water pump, coolant reservoir and thermostat. The thermostat required about half the damn car be disassembled to do that. No more leaks and car running fine. Parts $70, better part of Saturday and a happy daughter. Save much dinero in labor.
