Shared interests is one for pillars of a successful relationship but would you want a significant other to banter/debate/watch sports with?

Yes. I would love it. That way I had to explain less.

My wife is middle of the road, I guess. She will watch sports, but she doesn't really care. She was a pretty big Bulls fan for awhile back in 2011 and knew all the players and watched all the games with me.

That said, the explaining is the worst part. I appreciate that she's trying to watch the game, but I can't take 20 consecutive questions on what's happening and what the rules are when I'm trying to FOCUS. I usually smack her around a little and that takes care of it.

Thats fine. With you in bed at 6:45, she has full reign of the remote control for the rest of the evening.

I appreciate that my wife dislikes sports. We have a ton in common already, and I hate watching games with other people anyways.

So you both know nothing about sports? Strong marriage you got there.

I have to say that when I was dating, men often said they liked women who were knowledgable about sports, but the reality was that most were extremely intimidated by a woman who could have an intelligent sports conversation with them. It almost seemed like they liked the idea in theory, but not IRL. On the positive side, I do think some of that has changed over the recent years. My husband of 24 years readily admits that I know more about sports than he does, and has never been embarrassed about it like some previous boyfriends were....

Do you do "updates" on sports at your job?

northside is not a mult or JDC.

100% vouching for her.

Ex-wife???
It's almost impossible to believe a woman would ever let a prize like you get away!

Mmmmhmmm, do we have a problem I'm not aware of? For the record, Chauncey is better.

We have no problem. Just kidding around. You can't lob a softball like that and not expect someone to take a swing at it.
Chauncey is better than what????

Back in the day when I had my show on CLTV, Dale and I had a bet over the Cubs vs. Sox city series.
If the Cubs won, he'd have to print a pic of him wearing a Cub hat with his column for a week.
If the Sox won, I'd have to do the half-hour television show wearing a White Sox hat.
That was the most embarrassing half hour of my life!

My wife loves golf, watches it when I'm not even home. She even had a fantasy team for a couple years and did well.

She likes hockey and has watched enough of it over the past 9 years that she understands it for the most part. She doesn't watch that on her own, but pays attention when I put on a Hawks game.

She's also a compulsive gambler so any sport that has a bracket challenge she gets into that until her bracket is eliminated. She even follows the NCAA tournament for this despite her hatred for basketball.

She loves baseball and the Sox, but that sport is banned from our television so she hasn't seen a game in over 9 years.

Shared interests are good and it gives me someone to talk sports to at home, at least golf and some hockey. But, it doesn't really matter in our house cause I have 100% clicker control, whatever I want to watch is going on the tv anyway. Wife doesn't care, she would be fine with the TV not even being turned on which is insane to me.

I don't mind answering questions after a game but it's annoying to answer 50 questions in the middle of a game.

She's actually allowed to attend baseball as long as we can bring the dog. So we've done that once in 9 years. It was cool, would definitely do it again, but I don't think we even watched a single pitch.

My wife loves sports and watches even without me. She's just a little meatbally sometimes and blames refs/umps. But much easier watching with her than most guys. 99% of the time she just sits quietly watching and doesnt try to act like she knows more than she really does.

My wife likes to mock me when I'm talking about this big game or that big fight that I'm excited about watching. She watches the Super Bowl each year with me and that's about it for her sports viewing. That's fine with me though as that's about all I can handle of some of the great questions she asks.
