welp, don't forget that the cubs are literally up against the best pitcher in baseball (who managed a career best 1.69/0.73 this year, even tho his ~149IP wasn't enough to qualify for the ERA title) and this is a guy who around may-into-june had a stretch of ~4-5 consecutive games where he had 10K/+, and then as that streak was winding down he started another 5 game run where he had 3 CG Shutouts...

...oh wait, man, as i looked it up it turns out that it was a 6 game streak of 10K/+ that dovetailed into that stretch of 5 games where he had 3 complete game shutouts (the other 2 were 8IP 1ER 11K and 7IP 2ER 10K) -- fuckin a, dude.

so yeah, the cubs are not only up against the best pitcher in baseball, but they're up against the best pitcher in baseball who was en route to what would have probably been his best season by a pretty solid margin (even compared to his own !!!!!!! standards) and when it's quite possible that his previous postseason meh/craptitude was caused by wearing down after long seasons (remember: heading into tonight his postseaon ERA in first 6 innings was 3.06, and from innings 7+ it was 28.63.... so even when he was "good" in the postseason he was still putting up #s that were basically 1.5 to 2x worse than what he'd do in the regular season.......... AND DON'T FORGET HE MISSED 2 MONTHS WITH A HERNIATED DISC IN HIS BACK, so his arm got a couple'a months off and is therefore that much fresher come THIS october.

TLDR = your best bet is to try and keep this at 1-0 and get to a bullpen guy in the 7th or 8th inning (b4 kenleytime), however with kershaw giving up his first hit in the 5th i reckon his pitch count might give him a shot to go for a CG SHO.... good luck cubbies! DON'T GIVE UP THIS 2ND RUN HERE!!!!!!!
