agreed. Even last night's offensive outburst was not that impressive.

Heard people complain last year that the Cubs couldn't hit overpowering pitchers. Then I hear this year that the Dodgers have a lot of crafty pitchers, Cubs can't hit those. At some point, you have to stop making excuses and hit the best of the best. You needed to hold serve at home.

I don't see the cubs doing an old cubs move and losing the next 3.

Other notes :

1.Please stop with eddie veder.

2. This FS1 post game crew is awesome. Pete Rose is great. Big Frank and Arod impressive. The plain no name host does a good job too. Verducci is a good addition as well.

It's lame that Pete can't enter a MLB stadium.

Yeah, and why is that funny? Heyward and Rizzo have as much of a chance getting a hit off Kershaw as you do.

You are a peach man, a real peach. Don't ever change.

Almora for Heyward would be fine. But I doubt he was getting a hit tonight.

But no way in hell are they sitting Rizzo for Zobrist at 1st.

Almora starting game 3? There's no triple's alley in Dodgers stadium like there is in ATT. I don't think you lose anything defensively. Offensively what are you really losing.

I couldn't have told you anything about Dave Roberts before the Nationals series. Didn't know what he looked like, sounded like or how he acted

And yet after two games he's the one guy wearing a Dodgers uniform I can't stand. Just want to sock him in the face.

Heyward's defense did what tonight exactly? Like I said on here a few days ago,Defense is waaaay overrated in the outfield. There might be a chance Heyward has to chase down a flyball. There might also be a chance he doesn't. It is a sure thing he get's 3 or 4 AB's though. Give those AB's to someone who might have a chance to get a hit.

dude, where did i say you can't beat him? remember when they got their first hit in the 5th and had 2 on 2 outs? get another fucking hit and tie it up or go up 2-1 and win the fucking game.... it was right there for you, but it didn't happen.

yes, obviously if the cubs were (individually? as a team?) hitting better they're more likely to do something with 2 on 2 out in the 5th, but at the same time "it takes two to tango" and when i see THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL lose a game 1-0 to THE BEST PITCHER IN BASEBALL WHO HAD A CG SHUTOUT....

oh wait a minute, i didnt' even notice jansen come in for a 2 inning save? only 7 shutout innigns from kershaw?!?!?

HOLY SHIT I'M TOTALLY FUCKING WRONG AND BIG CHICAGOGAN IS RIGHT! WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK MADDON? YOU GODDAMN COCKSUCKER YOU NEED TO WAKE THE FUCK UP AND STOP PULLING DOMINANT STARTERS AFTER 77/86 PITCHES AND TAKE OUT GUYS HITTING .067 OR LESS AT THIS POINT AND STOP LOSING WINNABLE GAMES CUZ HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID YOU NOT SEE KENLEY JANSEN GIVE UP 4 RUNS TO WASHINGTON IN 2/3 OF AN INNING?!?!?

goddammit. man i'm sorry BC, i didnt know i was so wrong.... you're totally right. jansen isnt immortal like kershaw and therefore the cubs had no excuses not to win this game like 3-1 or something, and yeah, DISREGARD ME I SUCK COCKS!!!!

(disclaimer = i had a busy day over here with hosting a big ol birthday gala and therefore i didnt get a chance to watch the last 2 innings, i heard the final out i nthe background and heard joe buck blowing kershaw, who i remember having liek 69 pitches through 6 or something so i was pretty sure he went the distance. my apologies. holy shit the sky is falling and maddon needs to DO SOMETHING BECAUSE YOU KNOW THE CUBS ARE GONNA LOSE GAME 3 WHEN THEY CANT EVEN HIT A TIRED CLAYTON KERSHAW AND A CLOSER GUY WHO PROBABLY HAS A 4.50ISH ERA IN THE POSTSEASON!!!! GODDAMMIT WHY DID YOU GUYS HAVE TO RUIN THE ILLUSION FOR ME ARRRRDKSHFJLHDALJVHASDJHADJHVASKDLH

(the preceding post has been brought to you by newcastle, grey goose, and a lot of stupid fucking shallow conversations only offset by the stress of throwing/hosting a party for ~20ppl. my bad)

RFDC,
There is something I understand that not all people agree with. This isn't 1 game out of 162. It's one game out of 7. If somebody is stinking up your lineup, pull him. You don't have time for him to hit himself out of a slump.

You know it is something when Sini is the voice of reason in a Cubs playoff thread.

I sincerely appreciate your passion.

But there is no way in hell they are replacing Rizzo in the lineup. Love it or hate it, he is in the lineup to stay.

Like I've been saying...hell, everybody has been saying it for years, you have to win 1-0 or 2-1 games in the playoffs vs the great pitches to win a World Series. They lost this one.

Best of 5 now knowing you have Kershow for one more.

Based on balls struck hard, one could argue the Cubs should have won this game and the Dodgers should have won game one. So it should be 1-1 with reverse outcomes. That's the weird thing about baseball.

Heyward definitely needs to be on the bench in game 3.

I'd put Contreras in LF and Zobrist in right vs Hill with whichever catcher Jake prefers.

Russell also needs dropped from the 5 hole.

Game 3 is crucial. Jake has to step up and they need to pound Hill.

I feel good about Jake Arietta vs. 3-innings of Rich Hill.

That's for sure. I know you have to play Heyward in the regular season because he's making 15 million per year. But now is not the time to care about his money. Who cares now? The money is spent, it's a sunk cost and you're trying to win a World Series.

dude, you have no idea. i finally got everyone out of here and was sitting in the garage having a cigarette when i had to piss. instead of putting down my smoke and going inside i tore off the top of a tallboy can, closed the garage door, pissed in it, opened up the garage door, and then dumped it out in the lawn b4 hosing it off.... all while smoking my cigarette.

yeah that's the kind of "git-r-done" mentality that goes into my overblown/TLDR clayton kershaw ALS gimmick.... that said, man, LOOK AT WHAT THE DOYERS HAD TO DO JUST TO WIN A GAME 1-0!!!

now if arrieta goes out to LA and shits the bed and you're down 2-1 facing 2 more games out there with the team combining for ~3-4 runs over the next 3 games.... then yeah the sky IS falling and etc.... still, even tho the offense has been overall lackluster thus far, i'm thinking this is just cubs fans assuming the position of "here we go again" and just str8up looking for things to jump on in order to be able to say "see? i told you this was all gonna fall apart way back then!" and i mean..... yeap. i really can't blame cubs fans for it, but i sure as hell can engage in dumb pointless internet arguments with them about stuff like "that there clayton kershaw fella is pretty good!" =D

To the extent that "should have won the one we lost and lost the one we won" can be reconciled with "of course we'd lose Kershaw's start," it's hard to get too bent out of shape on this one. It wasn't a collapse, wasn't a blowout, it was just Clayton Kershaw doing what he does. Better luck at Dodger Stadium, I guess.

Single most reasonable reaction to one game.

Hill has had a great season for the Dodgers and relies mainly on a curveball. We are the worst curveball hitting team in the league. The only player on our team who has any success hitting curveballs is Contreras but Montero will start because of Jake.

Arrieta is awful.

Game 4 we get Urias vs Lackey. We smashed Urias in his MLB debut but he's turned into a lights out pitcher since then. Hes a future Cy Young winner.

Lackey is awful.

Our offense has been trash but now we're going to wake up vs these two guys? Hard to believe.

Be positive all you want but it's false optimism. Negativity is the way to go. Join the dark side (not the poster).

I'd start Travis Wood over Lackey. They can't touch him.

If Jake or Lackey get in any kind of trouble, yank them and have Wood go 4-5 innings vs these guys.

If Jake can put in a quality start, what about Lester in Game 4 with Wood available for long relief? I don't want to see Dr. Teeth, especially when the broadcasters are going to talk about his great work in Southern California 14 years ago while he sucks right now.
