The Cubs offense is based on the walk. Top pitchers aren't going to walk you.

When your 3 hitter is batting .040 and your 4 hitter is batting. 180 it's going to be tough to score runs.

But I read last night was all Eric Cooper's fault!

The Cubs are not a particularly good hitting team. The shitty White Sox hit better than they did.

He was bad but the Cubs hitters have been awfully for 6 games.

Especially with a 90s strike zone where the corners are 6 inches off the black.

It's time to move Baez up in the order behind fowler. The game appears so easy to him right now.

The lineup needs a complete makeover.

Last night was pathetic. I understand wanting Heyward's defense but there is no way you can start him in that game vs Kershaw.

We lost 1-0. I understand it's Kershaw and he shits roses and the umpire was awful but YOU CAN'T SCORE ONE RUN?! JUST ONE RUN!!! Holy shit. And the fans of the North Siders just shrug their shoulders and go "well we weren't suppose to win that one anyways". ALL YOU NEEDED WAS ONE RUN! ONE UNO FUCKIN RUN AND YOU HAD A GAME!!! Find a fuckin way. I don't care how. SCORE A RUN!

This fuckin clown show in LA is a joke. Just run Kershaw and Jansen out there all of the time and hope for the best. Stick it to them!

If we are going to trot this dead ass lineup out there and expect results in LA then we are really playing with fire.

No Heyward the next two games. Soler or Almora in. No more Zobrist and Russell in the 4 and 5 spots. I've seen enough of that. DO SOMETHING!!!

Hurry up and get here, Tuesday.

Cooper has been a big league umpire for 17 years and has always been pitcher friendly.

I guess all it takes is one loss with a bit of a wide plate, and Cubs fan turn into Hawk bitching about umpires.

An umpire could call a strike zone the size of a postcard and the White Sox would still find a way to never take a walk.

Didn't the "Foundation" suck in the playoffs last year?

Last night was bad confluence of events/people. Pitcher who never issues walks with umpire who has a strike zone the size of Texas. Bad matchup.

Add shit luck with Baez's hit being the 10% of outs to similarly hit balls and that's a loss.

Yeah, that first strike to Bryant in the ninth was ridiculous.

That was by far the most egregious miss by Cooper...but it doesn't excuse Bryant looking at strike three right down the middle.

Great!

The White Sox hitting or walking has nothing to do with you Cubs fans crying about a strike zone.

Not remotely, actually.

The Cubs didn't lose because of a questionable strike zone, nor did anyone suggest that there's some wide-reaching conspiracy against the Cubs.

2 out of 5?

While that is a multi-million dollar contract in the MLB, it's piss poor for an "argument."

Quote:
Adrian Gonzalez’s bat flick homer against Kyle Hendricks – the only run in the game – was a 390 foot, 99.2mph homer, which would not have left any other ballparks in baseball, according to The Home Run Tracker. Oh, Wrigley.

Quote:
I saw folks griping about the strike zone last night, which was not something I could really tell at the game (though when Kris Bryant turns around to mention something to the umpire – a true rarity – the odds are good it was not a great strike zone). Sure enough, that was a really bad zone. Check out the chart at Brooks, where I count as many as 12 typically-called strikes that Cubs pitchers did not get (Dodgers lost just six). Dodgers pitchers got three “strikes” called on balls outside the zone, and Cubs pitchers got just one. I’m not sure it turned the tide of the game, but you do hate to see such a discrepancy (and overall weak zone) in a one-run game.

"Not Remotely".

If Hawk says those 5 things in a game everyone is thinking he is blaming the umps.

So, 2 of the Doyers 4 runs scored this series have been via home runs that would be a double or an out in any other ballpark.

Sorry for stating our opinion on the umpire who was, objectively, pretty poor.

Gotta love Cub fans denying that anybody is blaming the ump at the exact same time other cub fans in the same thread are blaming the ump.

saying the umpiring was awful and benefited the dodgers does not equal saying it's the only reason the cubs lost.

none of those quotes said the umpiring was why the cubs lost.

Aren't most of the big Hawk ump blowouts against umps that notoriously suck?

How many examples are there of Hawk saying the umps are the only reason the Sox lost?

I don't know... don't watch the Sox.

I would argue that there's a difference between fans complaining about an umpire one game and a TV analyst doing it during the game pretty much every game.

Is the argument here that fans aren't allowed to ever question any call?
