Guys must be high or something. Inability to focus on the correct subject.

In keeping with former Cubs pitchers helping their former team in the postseason to advance (as Shark did in the NLDS) maybe Hill struggles tonight and has a similarly short outing. Hill was a guy the organization had high hopes for when he was coming up. It looked for a long time like he would never realize the promise, but he's been really good with Boston, Oakland and Los Angeles the past 14 months.

Dodgers 4 Cubs 2. Hill is effective and removed after 5 1/3.

Dodgers will be looking forward to facing Lester again. They hit it right at spots in game 1. Sorry guys, but I think this one's over. And I was looking forward to making some coin on the WS.

My sister went to the University of Wisconsin. When she came home after her freshman year we got into a conversation about badgers. She asked me if I knew how big a badger was and I replied that I thought it was about like a skunk. She started laughing and said that Bucky the Badger was at the Madison Zoo and it was the size of a five year old child. Incidentally, I think the Badgers are named after a nickname for miners. I'm not even sure badgers are native to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin has badgers, but the nickname is from miners. However, I can't explain why a high school five miles from the Illinois state line would steal the University of Wisconsin's intellectual property.

Cubs win 8-2.

Rizzo and Russell both hit HR.

Arrieta walks the bases loaded with the first three batters, and fourth hits a grand slam. Rich Hill pitches 8 scoreless innings. Cubs get a cheap run off a reliever in the 9th and lose 13 to 1.

 I studied textbook Spanish for twelve years.

Are you really gonna keep going here? What type of Spanish do you think Latino Dodger fans speak?

Chus linked the article that explained it for you.

It is clear that this can only be settled by the one common person we all know that speaks Spanish correctly and uses all the proper inflections, Dan Bernstein. Bring it to the radio show.

I may have taken a Spanish class or 2. I've used Rosetta Stone and I have a kid that is in an advanced Spanish class. All of this clearly makes me and expert. In my expert opinion they're both right.

I just thought about it again and I only studied Spanish for eleven years. I hardly studied math at all.

I just spoke to a real, live 100% Mexican American and he confirmed there is no pronunciation of Dodgers as Doyers, outside of the nickname whitey has bestowed upon the team. He travels to Mexico consistently for work, as well as the southwestern United States.

edit: I forgot to mention his impeccable credibility due to his name being "Jesus."

Do you understand how vernacular is created? I guess you and your Mexican friend are right and everyone else is just imagining the usage of "Doyers".

There are 2 more games before the Dodgers face Lester again. Tonight VS a pitcher that threw a No-Hitter against them last August, then tomorrow VS a pitcher that has won the clinching World Series game for the Angels and Red Sox. THEN they get to face one of the better left handed pitchers in 2016. A team that has struggled mightily against left handed pitching......but they are looking forward to facing him ??? Hill may well be effective tonight. The Cubs have not hit lefties very well and he's been good when healthy. But Jake can still best him and help the Cubs to get the home field advantage back and the series lead tonight. With hot dry air tonight, the conditions will be better for the hitters and it may not be the low scoring game we could otherwise expect, with fly balls travelling more easily out of the park, than normally might be expected for a night game there.

Guess this explains why the Cubs are lighting it up offensively . They know the signs!!

By Teddy Mitrosilis

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal didn't have to worry too much in Game 2 of the NLCS, with Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen dominating the Chicago Cubs and allowing only one runner to reach second base, but he might in Game 3.

That's because Grandal says the Cubs are stealing the Dodgers signs, and he knows it.

After Game 2, Grandal was asked about it and used the eighth inning of Game 1 as an example, when Ben Zobrist was on second and Addison Russell was at the plate facing Joe Blanton.

“All the sudden, Russell is not taking good swings at sliders, looking like he’s looking for a fastball and in a certain location,” Grandal said. “Did we know Zobrist had the signs and was doing something for it? Yeah, we did ...

“We are literally paranoid when it comes to men on second and they are trying to get signs. We know who is getting the signs. We know what they’re doing. We know what they do to get it.

"In the playoffs, one relayed sign could mean the difference between winning the World Series and not getting there. That’s why we have four or five different sets of signs, and we’re constantly changing.”

Grandal didn't seem irritated at the Cubs, though. He knows how it goes.

so he's not taking good swings, he's not getting a fastball where he thinks it will be, and he's getting stolen signs? That seems plausible...

I like the idea that Rich Hill is just some 3rd rate starter the Cubs are going to maul. Unless they show a fuckton more patience and start drawing some walks and long counts like the did against Bumgarner they're going to have problems tonight. That said I think Arrieta shuts LA down if his command is good and doesn't have a 5 walk performance .

each series is its own separate reality. Have you forgotten 97 wins in 2008?

Sorry Dr. Ken. The only time in my life I've been wrong about a Cubs playoff series was last year against the Cards. I'll be betting the next few games.

And they can be as patient as they want against Hill. He's only going 4 or 5.

Well, I mean, Madison Bumgarner hasn't played for seemingly half the teams in the majors.
