Yeah, but they wouldn't be in the playoffs in the Dale Sveum regime, either.

He took Urias deep earlier this year. Probably will again tonight.

I like Heyward and hope he proves me (some of us) wrong but I wouldn't bet on it.

It's not like the Cubs did better in any appreciable way w/ him not playing.

Does Heyward drag bunt? He is very fast.

Might work against LHP.

Once again, this statement is not true.

Maddon let him bat with 2 runners on against Kershaw. Get a hit there and maybe we are talking about a different series.

Who cares. They are going to get no hit with him or no hit without him. It doesn't affect their impending doom in any way.

The team scores 10 runs and even a pitcher has a hit, yet Heyward goes 0-5. He claps for himself after a groundout, because it scored a runner from 3rd. he also made a horrible play on the base hit that scored Adrian Gonzalez ( we got lucky on the call and that replay didn't overturn it) by taking far too long to get rid of the ball and then making a shitty throw that Conreras had a tough time making a tag with. terrible game all around for Heyward, but the team carried him......again.

If Soler had shown anything in his ab's this post season I think he would be starting out there but he has done nothing at the plate as well.

Cubs are still 5-1 in games the infield pop up machine has started and 0-2 when he is on the bench.

It is not as if Soler is the only option there. Coghlan is another option as is having Bryant or Zobrist out there, with Contreras in LF. Sczcur should have been on the playoff roster, as he is a better option against left handed pitching than Soler, who actually hits right handed pitching better.

I always assumed but you made me think about those new cylindrical fans that look good standing up.

No. Some Cubs fans flip flop.

Bench Heyward for Game 5. I don't care about the RBI groundout or defensive play.

Yea. I'd like to keep Contreras in the lineup.

I know that a ground out RBI seems terrible but if you are going to ground out, that is the exact spot to hit the ball for the good of the team. I'll take it.

Bat him cleanup tonight. A vote of confidence might get him going.

They won over a hundred games this year with him hitting like this. They can weather the storm of his bad hitting with his defense. When the rest of the team isn't hitting it makes him look worse.

Heyward is an easy target. He isn't really the problem though. They have adjusted to having his non-existent bat in the lineup.

Everything is fine and we don't have to have dumb conversations about Matt Murton when the middle of our order does what it's supposed to. It fixes everything.

Was watching FS 1 just now and Cowherd had Joe Buck on. Just like last night during the broadcast he really took the hatchet to Jason Heyward., specifically concerning the throw home on the Gonzales play. I wonder if there is some residual Cardinal fan jealousy going on because he really seems to have an axe to grind .
