Mike Montgomery has been a key figure in the series VS the Dodgers, who hit lefties poorly. Madden had spoken of considering Montgomery for a start against L.A. should they meet in the playoffs, before giving Montgomery a couple late season starts. yet he backed off the idea of starting him, as I believe he just couldn't bear to tell Lackey he was being replaced in the playoff rotation. Yet there he was taking Lackey out in the 5th inning, with a 5-0 lead, to get Montgomery in the game. Not really fair to Lackey, who had pitched well, but probably a smart move.

Lackey probably pissed that he wasn't able to be credited with the win (which would have set the record of winning playoff games for four different teams), but fuck him...team comes first.

Pretty much the same thing you called into AM1000 with the other morning. Conveniently, you left out the part where you talked about benching Addison Russell and the ensuing laughter from Carmen & Jurko at your expense.

I think Lackey could gave gotten out of that better than what Montgomery did(2 runs) .I don't like Montgomery, his control sucks, stuff is good though .I expect a wild pitch in almost every AB.

If the series go to 7 games I want to see Montgomery starting with 2-4 innings. Wood 2-3 innings and then all hands on deck from there.

More interested in seeing how they use him next season. Looks like he could be a good starter, but, as frustrating as Hammel can be, I just can't see the Cubs not picking up his option.
