i think he's fine physically, the problem is that he's able to give 100% max athletic effort for weak popouts/grounders, and his head's in a place where if he doesn't do that he'll probably look at strike 3. i still think there's a pretty decent chance he "comes good" within the next 2 years and if he does well he can go try to get another 5-8yrs out of someone else with money to waste.

i reckon if the cubs had schwarber right now you'd see zobrist in right and babe fucking ruth in left.

call it a hunch they didn't mind too much. not only had they just brought up a young kid named miguel cabrera, they also went on to win the world series that year. plus as they'd later prove with migcab, they can trade good/proven hitters for just about as much as they trade young starlets.
