I watched the Martian again yesterday after seeing it in the spring. Honestly, I don't get why people thought it was a good movie.

Basically, the plot is Apollo 13 coming back from Mars, which is an asinine idea altogether to even want to go there in the first place. The acting was terrible, including by Matt Damon, who came across as surly and overly comical. None of the other characters were at all likable, though the casting made sure the diversity quota was met.

The ridiculousness of the movie was apparent in the joke after Matt Damon photographs himself, when the black director says "if he takes off his helmet, then he would die" , and everyone behind him is cracking up.

Clearly, it is an anti-God film, with Matt Damon's character cursing God five times in a climactic moment after he is blown up. How stupid is this? God didn't put you on the barren planet, and you blame him?

Another left-propaganda film out of Hollywood. No wonder the movie industry is in trouble, when it produces this kind of shite.

There are a few movies this one was like. Red Planet, Mission to Mars, Apollo 13.

Not to be "that guy," but the book was WAY better. I read it before the movie came out and couldn't conceive of how they'd translate it to film. They did an OK job, but so much detail was left out, that it felt like watching SportsCenter highlights. Out of context, it doesn't make much sense.

Ah yes, the ever blameless God. Takes credit for the victories, and the failures, well you put yourself in that situation. He's all seeing, all knowing, all powerful. Pray to him, and when shit blows up it's your fault.

Of all the things to be mad about. It was Castaway in space.

Yes, put the annoying woman commander in charge to appease the feminists.

They had almost every race, gender and nationality covered in the casting. Even the German, Vogel, whom they made out to be a sexual deviant via stereotyping.

You know this film was produced by Jews, like all the other crap in Hollywood, to throw that in.

Agreed. Although, as I explained it to Dr. Ken Jr. II, it's really just the world's longest story problem.

Still, I enjoyed it.

You know what I liked about the movie? No reading! Only took me two hours, and then I went for a nap.

You could probably read the book in 2 hours.

And it sounded funnier coming from Jim Gaffigan.
