To be honest,I would have but since the other side of town won in 2005,that changed things.

Still after all these years,it would be nice to hang a pennant in my house that at least says NL champs.

That's exactly the type of attitude that makes me hate Cubs fans.

GO FOR THE KILL YOU PANSIES.

No, no, no!

I want the whole bowl of spaghetti and every meatball this year, jimmy! Not just a plate of antipasti and a first course!

This is the year. I want them to do it and do it right.

I would be mostly because I can make fun of IMU and leash.

Why are you even thinking about this right now?

Get the pennant first. Then worry about winning the WS.

That's a compelling reason tbh.

The real focus should be on how we're going to keep Belushi and Cusack away.

MANY Cubs fans will be happy even if they lose the next 2 games.

i think winning the pennant was a big/ger thing when there was only a world series comprised of the team with the best record in the AL vs the team with the best record in the NL. honestly, having gotten into european soccer over the last few years i can see why all the euro countries like to separate the regular season from the tournament/playoffs; to win your domestic soccer league you gotta have the most points after you've played every team in the league home and away, then they have traditional knockout/elimination tournaments for the domestic cups completely separate from the league (while going on alongside it) and then there's the european cups if you're into that sort of thing (which isn't needed here since the average european country is roughly the size of one of our states)

that said, i think too many people here have grown up during a time where winning the playoffs/world-series (tournament) is everything so they're unable to view the pennant as some kind of big achievement. odds are you can probably blame the NFL for this mindset to a certain extent, tho the baseball playoffs actually started off in the minor leagues as a gimmick to get more people to care about their teams in the second half (kinda like today's 2 wild cards / mandatory game 163).

but hey, to give you an idea how big winning the pennant was back in the day the actual cubs curse is for MAKING the world series, not WINNING it *shrug*

Being unhappy is different than being disappointed.

If the Cubs lose the next two, I will be disappointed. This was still another great season with a young team trending upward. But I will still be happy with the season. And very happy if they win the pennant. And VASTLY HAPPIER if they win the World Series.

However, I speak for myself.
