Will it take 4 hours to vote every day between now and November 8th? Or is it just because today is the first day of early voting? I'm guessing that on Tuesday, November 1st the lines won't be as long.

I can't see into the future. It will likely take longer than it should, as MANY of the early polling places have been closed.

North Carolina state and county officials pursued these cuts despite the overwhelming popularity of early voting. More than half of all the votes cast in the 2012 election were cast early and in person, and black voters in particular favor early and in-person voting. A federal court found that before trying to eliminate the entire first week of early voting, the state requested data showing “African Americans disproportionately used the first seven days.”

Definitely not targeting black voters.

That goes against the negative stereotype of African Americans as frequently being late.

hey speaking of voter fraud and all, have any of you been watching those project veritas investigation videos that james o'keefe has been putting up over the last week or so? the first two had some low/er-level democrat operatives on hidden camera boasting about some of the tricks of the trade, and while these things are hardly surprising to anyone with a mind to think over the last ~10-20+ years, still having video of people brandishing shit-eating-grins while bragging about all the cool shit they've pulled off = pretty decent wow factor IMO.

the link in the a4mentioned paragraph = the first video, here's a link to the second (proper) video. from what i could gauge of ppl commenting on these videos elsewhere, i guess the guy might have intimated that he had some !!!OMFG!!! shocking video like hillary casually dropping the n-word or something? idk. we haven't gotten that yet, but i'm pretty sure dude says he's gonna keep putting up videos all the way up to the election so we'll see what happens.

all this stuff is above my paygrade and technically not really earth-shattering !!!NEWS!!! for most of us who assumed this was just kind of the way things get done in [Current Year] america, but still at ~10mins a pop these first two videos are a pretty good looksee/gander into the "real world" of voting even if only to technically fortify what you pretty much already knew/assumed.

oh yeah i wasn't here to say james o'keefe is some dude paragon to all that's good and right in the world, hell i didn't even know who the fuck he was b4 last week, but i'm sure in the end we can all come together on some "common sense" stuff like "this is all part of a russian plot to undermine our democratic process!" =)

that said, if this dude pulled off a little blair witch style "found footage" thing of people masterfully playing roles as crooked democratic operatives, well then slap mah fro give that man a statue and uhhh yeah WGAF don't be stupid: go with Her and let's make america benefit again!

but hey you know, shitcanning assange and possibly fucking with some internet killswitchery today = maybe something fun is going on? but hey, i sleep easy knowing that our lady has some impressive buzzword-drenched focus-group-approved talking points to drop on us to make us feel =] that we're not electing that [pejorative], so let's not concern ourselves with anything from that [other pejorative] james o'keefe in the interim! #FOCUS!

I ask this question not knowing the answer before doing any research on it:

Do other countries allow Early voting like we do?

Just wondering if early voting is unique to the USA is all. After I posted and for the most part our way of doing early voting is unique. Up until 2008 you had to have an excuse as to why you could not vote on election day. Plus, the law as set out by Congress in 1844 has not been changed. So early voting is a luxury. I think it should be a holiday and early voting eliminated except under extenuating circumstances.

I think voter suppression/intimidation will help Trump win in Texas, Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio, Georgia, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Flroida. If he also takes Iowa, Nevada and Utah, there's a good chance he wins this thing. I don't like the overconfidence from the Clinton campaign.

You can't be serious. This is the sort of thinking that got Rove and "Tricky" Dick Morris whacked over at Fox.

I hope you're right. But there's some scary stuff going on. Even in a state like Wisconsin where voter suppression measures have been struck down in court, the state government is refusing to comply with the decision.

I'm sure that they have done their fair share of internal polling hence the overconfidence. Trump is about done. If it turns into Dewey/Truman type situation I'd be shocked.

They are acting overlyconfident though. She is a terrible front runner also.

For really the first time in this campaign we are going to really see what her base happens to be. You never hear about it. You can't go one segment without hearing how unpopular she happens to be. You also can't go a news cycle without hearing about the lack of enthusiasm.

The fact is that her and Trump had the 1st and 3rd most watched debates in history.

This election has the highest number of early voting to date.

I also think that the voter turnout for this election will be the highest number in history.

The mere existence of such civil-rights disasters in as many states as you listed really speaks to the Democrats' cocksure attitude in general, doesn't it? Republicans have been doing scary shit at the state level for six years now and making lots of Americans' lives simply miserable, but everything is fine because this shit doesn't happen in New York or Maryland and Queen Hillary is about to slay the dragon.

The polling only matters if Clinton supporters are able to vote. Trump appears to be organizing a large-scale voter intimidation campaign fueled by overt racism. Members of his "election protection" squad are openly talking about targeting "Mexicans and Muslims" at the polls. The Democrats need to be able to counter these tactics. Obama's campaign was good at this kind of thing; I have less confidence in Clinton's team.

I can remember it was only a few months ago I argued about how his campaign was heavily fueled by racism and people vehemently disputed it. I don't think he will be successful but it probably will make the race somewhat closer.

http://iowapublicradio.org/post/des-moines-woman-says-she-voted-twice-trump-because-polls-are-rigged#stream/0

A Des Moines woman has been charged with Election Misconduct, a Class D felony, after allegedly voting twice for GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. Terri Rote says she was afraid her first ballot for Trump would be changed to a vote for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

"I wasn't planning on doing it twice, it was spur of the moment," says Rote. "The polls are rigged."

But Polk County Attorney John Sarcone says voter fraud in Iowa is very rare, which is evidence that Iowa’s election system is secure.

"I think in the 25-plus years that I've been doing this job, this maybe the third [time] we've had some irregularity that's resulted in a criminal charge," says Sarcone. "People aren’t voting more than once. And if they do, or attempt to do it, they will get caught because there are safeguards in place....We want everybody to exercise their right to vote, but only once."

Rote was released from jail on Friday on a $5,000 bond. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison.
