When it happened, did you cry? I just sat on my couch in shock, but no tears. I still can't believe it.

One hell of a run.....so far.

Go Cubs!

They have not achieved their goal yet and there is no crying in Baseball, so quit your blubbering.

To put things into perspective here for me, the Cubs might have a more recent World Series victory than the Bears will have a playoff appearance.

So, the Bears might finally officially be the most pathetic pro sports team in Chicago.

But congrats to the Cubs and their fans I guess. And, is there any way the Bears can borrow Theo and Jed for at least the NFL draft?

Yeah,no shit...read it again. Shock is not blubbering,Sherlock.

They won the pennant, that is huge but I damn well know it's not over.

Go suck a dick you pile of shit.

Was watching with my wife. Did I wake up my 2 year old son? Nope, because my negative 2 month old kid was sitting right next to me.

10 years ago I would have wanted to be in Chicago, tonight, it was perfect.

I was in knots all game. Even up 5-0. This teams history. I locked myself in another room away from the family . I screeeeeeemed so loud when they got that dp. I never have screamed so loud in my life. All those years of frustration in that scream. I died as a kid when they blew it in 84 and the years they got so close. I thought we were never going to get there. I've said this all my life : if the cubs get to the WS i will cry, and I did. If they win it I will celebrate.

My Dad is buried seven plots down from Harry Carey at All Saints cemetery. There are always tchotchkies and talismans on his headstone. I can only imagine what it will look like this week.

I forgot about Harry Carey's grave, though. My wife mentioned it. The first person I thought of was my Dad.

technically, i went over to the house of the chick who rejected my offer to take her to the prom and jerked off on the side of her house. then again, i've been doing that just about every saturday/sunday night for the last ~17+ years, so idk if this technically counts as a proper "cubs reaction" but it IS legitmately what i did right after i found out the cubs made the world series so c'est la vie =P

(obviously i've never done this b4 in my life, however i knew a dude who legit did that on his prom night (while he was crying.... or so he claimed). i guess that was > going stag > going burrito ?? godspeed jolan, wherever you are you crazy vagrant you!)

for the record, last time i ever talked to that dude he casually called me up to be like "hey whassup? wanna smoke a few bongs and play doom later?" however when i was talking to him i noticed that he seemed to be breathing funny/odd/etc and i was like "what are you doing over there?" he matter of factly replied "masturbating" and as everything "clicked" in my head i hung up on the dude and left it at that, cuz you could only imagine where he was likely attempting to "take" our "friendship" if he was broaching that subject so casually and ostentatiously.

THE PRECEDING MESSAGE WAS DEFINITELY NOT BROUGHT TO YOU BY LESSONS IN BREVITY FROM MY FATHER. maybe i woulda had a fighting chance in life if i had a proper father like leash's dad, eh? =P

Watched at home on pins and needles until after the top of the 8th. Then raced over to the bar where my wife works and watched the end and celebrated there with everyone.

Fielded a lot of texts from joyous friends and family. Thought a bit about my dead mother who was a Big Fan and never saw this happen.

Great series, great night, great feeling. But it is not over. It is like getting to mile 20 of the marathon. "Don't stop now boys!"

I was joyous mood but a little sad in that the two greatest Cub fans I knew where not here to share in it,my father and Grandfather.
It is because of my Grandfather that I know what a true fan is. When I was a kid in Canaryville growing up he was a Cub fan before it was cool. He would have his little B/W Tv and watch games out in the yard when we would have a cook out or when all us kids where over he would retreat to the basement so he could watch them in peace. He never gave up the belief he would one day see them as World Series Champs, when I would watch with him and he taught me all about the game and the players I abandoned the natural order of things and became a fan of the boys in blue instead of the Sox. My father was an anomaly he was the first Southside born Cubs fan I knew, he also was a fan of the NFL Cardinals because he rooted for them when they played in Chicago and followed them when they left. The only thing my Grandfather(mothers dad) and my Dad agreed on was the Cubs ,otherwise they despised each other.
I told this story before about my dad. When the Sox won the WS the next day he ,my mother and brother where having breakfast at the Ramova Grill on 35th and Halsted. A reporter for ABC 7 came in and was interviewing people, she saw my father and according to my brother her face light up as she saw this old guy and thought she hit a gold mine. She asked him what he thought of the Sox winning it all. He looked into the camera and deadpanned" I don't give a shit ,I'm a Cubs fan." She then preceded to back away.

I wish those two old men where here right now,I think this would kill them both.

Very happy my Son and I were able to enjoy it together. Also very happy to not be in the Wrigley Field neighborhood. I'm not really shocked and I don't know why.

I was so drunk I don't remember. All I know is that I woke up just now, still fully clothed, in a spot I don't remember falling asleep in, and I'm still drunk.

CUBBIES!

I reacted the same way I did when I learned that Noisewater nailed Elisabeth Shue. There was a very slight twinge of wistful jealousy, but mainly I was struck by utter disbelief.

When the Sox won,I was watching a Lifetime movie with my wife. I just didn't care but I respected what they accomplished.

When Rizzo caught the ball to end the game, I immediately thought; Will he give the ball to Tom Ricketts?

You know, like Paul Konerko did with Jerry Reinsdorf?

I know, that was the WS but this is pretty special as well.

Anybody hear what Rizzo did with the last out ball?

Jammed it in his back pocket and said he was taking it home.

Wish he would have thrown it into the stands. All the talk about loving the fans, give some goober in the stands a once in a generation souvenir.

Uh, he said he's going to sleep with it. I guess I assumed that he would be sleeping at home.

Maybe by sleeping with it he meant he was going to fuck the baseball, which I guess truly would be special for both him and the ball.

I realized that the two worst fanbases (Penn State & the Cubbies) were celebrating their biggest wins in recent memory, threw up & went to sleep. Only to awaken to tv with Trump surrogates strangely celebrating (something?) as well.

Penn State fans, Cubbie fans & Trumpets.

Made for each other.

I quit :puker:

Bill Murray cried but he waited until the camera was on him.

I didn't think I was going to, but a few tears did roll down my cheek.

I thought back to all those crappy Cub games that my Mom would endure because she knew how much I loved baseball and the Cubs. It's amazing how many memories came flooding back. It's as though my Cubdom flashed before my eyes.

And though I never saw him play, I was really happy for Billy Williams. You could see the genuine appreciation for the moment on his face as he stood by himself in the locker room. What an image.

Actually my first time at Wrigley was an outing with my Parish Priest. He took all the alter boys from St Gabriels. Talk about a fucked up trip circa 1979

I sat quietly and reflected on what it all meant.

Then I called my children into the room to have a serious discussion about what had just occurred.
