I wasn't ready for Buck's call of "The Cubs win the pennant!"

I'd never considered what somebody would actually say if they ever got that out. Sounded cool.

Sini seems to be upset that people are happyand that it detracts from his self-loathing and boring ass 1,000 word posts. He'll get over it.

my dad is starting to get e-mails from ticketmaster/stubhub/etc.... evidently right now it's $2400 to get standing room only for the world series @ wrigley. you figure that's only gonna go up if/when the cubs win 1/2 in cleveland and there's a chance they COULD win the world series in chicago. if that's the case and they can win the WS in game 4 or 5.... man, you figure maybe 7500-10k+ just to get in the ballpark? is that a low estimate?

I got tickets to games 1 and 2 in Cleveland for $782 each and $820 each and while they are bleacher tickets, they have seats. better to drive to Cleveland for the better deals by far. Got them yesterday, so I was taking a calculated gamble the Cubs would make it. I'm sure prices will increase with many Chicagoans looking into tickets now. Had the Dodgers made it, the market would have remained poor. Vivid Seats was the service I used there.

I have no idea what he said until I saw the replay like an hour ago. when that happened I went nuts. But ya it was cool. I like the term 'winning the pennant'. Seems like nobody uses it anymore. It's 'winning the NLCS' or 'Going to the World SEries'.

Good call by Buck. Maybe he rehearsed it.

I wonder if Buck did the call knowing that the Cubs would raise the "w" pennant on the scoreboard.

Very few places fly actual pennants today. That fucker was raised tonight.

On the very last play ,I thought the Dodgers were going to ask for a review of the play at first. I still was thinking that while the Cubs celebrated.

I'm exhausted. I didn't go to sleep until after three. The kids woke up at 630.

CHICAGO -- Less than an hour after the Cubs had secured their first trip to the World Series since 1945, chairman Tom Ricketts, former pitcher Kerry Wood and Hall of Famer Billy Williams had a quiet moment in the clubhouse. They tapped their drinks together in a toast to a team that has a chance to do something that hasn't been done in more than 100 years.

I didn't realize that happened until this morning. Seems like something that should be tracked like a no hitter.

It gets buried because of losing to the Marlins and stuff, but Kerry Wood throwing 8 innings of one run ball in game 5 on the road against the Braves in 2003 was mega balls.

Not for nothing, but Kevin Tapani had a complete game shutout going into the bottom of the 9th in 1998 @ Atlanta till Javy Lopez donged one. Still would like to know what would have happened in that series if it went back to Chicago one game all.

Great game, Peyton Kershaw didn't disappoint. Hopefully a few days off cools down the injuns, Contreras has proven he's gotta be in the lineup every game.

Gotta agree with you on this. Strikeouts are cool, but the stakes were exponentially higher in the Hendricks game.
