you just get a vibe off of him that he's there to watch a baseball game and all these cameras/tv-people keep showing up to bug him, so he'll fuck with them back and make them unwittingly plug jimmy john's if they're gonna bug him (cuz i bet you that he hoped rocking a JJ's hat = there might be a situation where someone high/er up at fox is like "HEY JIMMY JOHNS ISN'T A SPONSOR! WE'RE NOT GIVING THEM A FREE PLUG HERE!" and therefore they can't show bill murray, which believe it or not is what he actually wants (unlike say, that fat pudwhack jeff garlin or the eminently punchable john cusack)

of course, when FOX/MLB/etc aren't as big of Caller Bobs about "official sponsors only" as UEFA/FIFA (i.e. "Emirates Stadium" is referred to as "Arsenal Stadium" in any/all official CL media/broadcasts/etc because Emirates is not an official sponsor of UEFA*.*) and they still have to go bug bill murray because, hey, us unwashed rubes need to know that real people like this too ---- yeah, not only does bill murray manage to brilliantly execute a slick little middle finger at the celebrity-obsessed culture/media, but he also gets to make a few bucks on the side too, so his overpriced beers are 100%+ free/sponsored!

The one knock I have on Murray and his fandom is his sudden appearance at the NCAA Tourney when the Illini was making their run with Dee Brown & Co. He was suddenly the John Cusack of Illini basketball.

I'd never seen him at a game before or since but he was suddenly the face of Illini basketball.
