Cleveland is arguably the worst of the Rust Belt/Great Lakes cities. Other cities may suck more, but at least St. Louis has a big park and a giant croquet wicket.

Cleveland sucks, but it's not as bad as Detroit

I'll await the Tall Midget's take on the worst of Rust Belt/Great Lakes cities, and expect a socialigical breakdown of the reasons why each has failed more miserably than the others before a determination can be made.

welp, even tho i'm sure that you're up on this obviously this classic/legendary video comes to mind when you're talking about cleveland. and of course once dude realized he was "sitting on a fucking goldmine" (- rod blagojevich) he went back and upgraded the one-liners to have some real zing.

ahh yeah, i gotta admit that about once a year you can toss those 2 videos on and =] as you sing along with "our main export is crippling depression..... but hey at least we're not detroit!" =D

But Buffalo, like Detroit, sucks in such a thorough way. As we found out last summer with the Kane rape case, it essentially functions as a 6,000-person town where everyone knows everyone and their deepest darkest secrets. Really, with the way people have fled Western New York as if there were a plague there, Buffalo is more pitiable than anything. Cleveland sucks because it just is.

speaking of the region, didn't old late-70s/early-80s SNL have a commercial for some "100% lake erie water" called "Swill" i think? i remember they had a product-moneyshot of someone pouring out some of the "Swill" water from a can and it was oozing out like it was molasses, chock full of pulltabs and cigarette butts and other debris... while that song "anticipaaaaaation" was playing in the background? 8) 8) 8)

pretty fucking brilliant IIRC, but it's hard to find old SNL stuff like that unless you have a hulu plus subscription or something (cuz man i've been dying to see that old yard-o-pult commercial for years now =/ )

Just remember these 'tormented' Cleveland fans are the same assholes who wear scarlet and gray on Saturdays in fall. Some threw beer bottles at my pregnant wife because she was wearing a Michigan shirt. Fuck them and their racist mascot.

PS - How about that Penn State game last night

Look at their bullshit stadium with big beige blocks in the upper deck because they gave up on ever selling seats.

Capacity has gone form 45,000 to 35,000. ARE THE INDIANS LOW-T?!?

I had no clue. I think I sat up there once in the pre-recession era.

The networks would have liked a Boston-Chicago WS.

That would have been great stuff.

I would much rather see the Indians in the WS than the Yankees or Red Sox.

Eh, I'll disagree with that. 10 years ago? Absolutely. Now? No. Riverfront and Over the Rhine, by themselves, are better than Cleveland and the rest. Plus it's like 300k population wise. To little to care about.

Perhaps.

As long as the Cubbies are in it, the numbers should soar ... even if it had been against the Toledo Mud Hens.

Earlier in the year I opined that it would be terribly bad luck were the Astros get in the WS and get beat by the other Chicago team ... that would be an awfully ignominious mark on the franchise, not to mention one that almost certainly wouldn't be duplicated ever again.

I was there a long time ago to see Phish. We couldn't find a restaurant or bar that was open at 11:30 PM. Fuck that place.

And you can keep that chili with macaroni in it.

Cincinnati was settled by strait-laced Germans and to this day remains allergic to fun. Its suburbs are hardcore Trump-rally-hosting conservative and are responsible for foisting Mike McConnell onto an unwitting WGN audience.

This is a great school lunch memory.

We had GREAT cooks in high school that made a killer Chili Mac.

Agree with Spaulding - elbow macaroni the best.

But Cincinnati chili is spaghetti noodles with brownish chocolate-cinnamon glop on top.
