He's the anti-Cutler.

Kelly has the personality and demeanor like Jim McMahon.

Bears fans will love him.

Machine Gun Kelly is going to be one interesting pro to watch wherever he lands. He is quote the emotional hothead as opposed to nihilist Cutler.

New Mock from BR released a few hours ago.

http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2668601-2017-nfl-mock-draft-post-week-5-breakdown

Of the QBs:

Kizer #1 to Browns

Kaaya jumps to the Dolphins at #3 which is a good spot for him to learn under Gase.

Watson is, unfortunately for him, going to the 49ers at #4

No Machine Gun Kelly found in the first round.

The Bears are slotted #6 and pick Jabril Peppers. I'm all for this. He is my exception if you don't draft a QB with the 1st round pick. Peppers is a day one starter, and potential rookie pro bowler. Your defense is immediately upgraded with him on the field. Idk if he'd make it to 6 tho.

Interesting RB scenarios in this mock:

Fournette to the Panthers

Dalvin Cook to the Colts

Christian McCaffery to the Patriots (Prolly the best possible landing spot for him)

He regrets losing potential $ now.

Watson with 378 yards on 52 attempts, 2 TDs and 1 INT.

The INT was awful-looking, but a few times Clemson found themselves in 2nd+ and long and Watson made the throws beyond the 1st Down marker without problem, though it looks as though he is benefiting from Clemson wideouts being able to GUAGI over weaker defenders.

I'm cooling on Watson now. He's been too inconsistent for me this season. Still a great playmaker, but like you said he's playing with NFL caliber weapons on offense.

Week 8 Review:

Oh boy. Not a good week for the "play like shizer for Kizer" mindset I've been championing throughout the Bears season. All 4 of these QB prospects struggled this week. Some far more than others. Let's review.

Deshaun Watson: 39/52 378yds 2td 1int, 13att 35yds 1td. Clemson beat a decent NCST team 24-17 in over time, but didn't look too good doing it. I'm beginning to get the impression Watson is stubbornly trying to prove he's a pocket passer this year. Last season he ended up with 1105 rushing yards and 12tds in 15 games. This year he only has 274 yards and 1td through 7 games.

Deshone Kizer: Fuck me. Kizer was terrible in a 17-10 loss to Stanford. He went 14-26 with 2ints, and 11att for 83yds and 1td. Kizer was also benched for 3 drives in the second half by Brian Kelly. I watched a good amount of this game, and it's obvious to me there are major issues in the locker room for Notre Dame. Idk who is the main problem, but Kizer's play lately is an indicator he's not handling w/e the issue is properly. He's still my top pick for the Bears, but only by a slim margin at this point.

Brad Kaaya: 16/31 224yds in a 20-13 loss against a good UNC team. Kaaya was largely ineffective all game, and lost a crucial fumble late in the 4th qtr on a sack. Kaaya looks more and more to me like the QB in college who has all the tools, but never put together a monster statistical season. Some NFL coach will fall in love with the skill set and think they can elevate Kaaya to elite. I'm not feeling the Bears drafting this guy.

Chad "machine gun" Kelly: 18/39 253yds 1td 1int, 14att 89yds 2tds. Ole Miss lost a tough game to Arkansas 34-30. Kelly played sloppy, and finding a way to win this game would have shown NFL gms just how gritty a QB he is. Kelly is falling out of the first round in a lot of mock drafts, and he could be a sleeper for the Bears in round 2 or 3.

Draft stock:
1. Kizer- down
2. Watson- same
3. Kelly- down
4. Kaaya- down

Oh well, there's always next week.

Guys, let's not give up on Cutler. I think next year is the year he takes a big step. We haven't given him enough time.

There's still...what, 8 weeks of CFB left, something like that? I wouldn't rule out one of these prospects catching fire and rocketing back up draft boards (and of course Combine and Pro Day results will matter), but there just isn't a sure-fire #1 overall QB prospect that I see, right now. Can an NFL franchise in desperate need of a franchise QB risk spending the top pick on a kid that was benched by a coach looking for any possible way to win to save his own job?

I don't think Watson is accurate enough to succeed in the NFL, and he won't be able to outrun everybody at the next level.

I saw a couple of throws behind his WR on quick slants against NCSt. One was late in the game. The WR made a great catch but came up short of the first down marker. They had to go for it on 4th down. He can get away with that against NCSt, but not Bama or OSU.

I'd wager most NFL GMs know Brian Kelly is a fucking clown, but I do see your point. If Kizer continues to play like this he'll drop out of the 1st round.

Agreed. Watson is desperately trying to prove he's a capable pocket passer, but the more he tries the more he is exposed as a product of NFL caliber teammates. I'm not completely dismissing him because I've seen him win games singlehandedly in his career. However, I think going back to the 2015 version of Deshaun Watson wouldn't hurt his draft stock at this point.

Watson also has the benefit of having a better supporting cast than his opponents almost every week. They have been the most talented team in the ACC by a wide margin over the last two years. Those things even out in the NFL.

I have been wrong about so many college QBs lately, that he will probably be a HOFer.

I worry about Watson ending up somewhere like San Francisco where your best WR is Torrey Smith, and your starting TE is something called Vance McDonlad. He has no chance there.

The best spot at the top of the draft for a young QB (besides the Bears), believe it or not, is the Browns. They have good young skill position players, and a QB "guru" as the head coach. Watson or Kizer could sit, and wait for the inevitable RG3 injury before being thrust into a starting spot.

It seems almost assured that they first QB chosen in 2017 will not be one of Watson, Kaaya, Kizer or Kelly.

Kelly is throwing too many passes up for grabs. That shit won't fly at the next level.

Trade for Luck so Ryan Grigson can use the cap space to buy a defense he'll eventually blame for the lack of having a star QB.

Welp... I fucked up. I went to add Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky to the poll, and it erased all the logged votes when I resubmitted it. Not that anyone especially cares besides me, but that does kind of suck.

Anyway, back to how the potential Bears QBs played in week 8:

Deshaun Watson: Bye
Season: 63% comp 1950yds 7.6avg 20td 8int 70car 274yds 1td

Deshone Kizer: Bye
Season: 58% comp 1775yds 8.7avg 14td 7int 78car 285yds 7td

Brad Kaaya: 23/38 323yds 2tds 1int in a bad 37-16 loss to Virginia Tech. I don't put this loss 100% on Kaaya's shoulders as he was sacked 8(!) times by Tech. Miami's offensive line was simply dominated. Out of the 8 sacks, maybe 2 could be due to Kaaya holding the ball too long. For some reason the offensive coordinator continued to have Kaaya dropping back 5-7 steps like it was a Mike Martz offense. Seriously, watch this shit ---> https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HbnBUXfQSZ0
Season: 61% comp 1696yds 8.7avg 12td 5int

Chad Kelly: 20/33 218yds 1td 2int 12car 56yds in a 38-21 ass kicking at the hands of LSU. This was probably Kelly's worst game of the season. While I still like his competitiveness, Ole Miss as an entire team is not playing consistent football. Kelly could potentially be falling into the mid rounds of the draft at this point. A strong showing against a hot Auburn team is just what he needs to begin to move back up in the draft.
Season: 61% comp 2067yds 8.4avg 15td 8int 63car 274yds 3td

Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky: 24/31 310yds 3tds in a 35-14 beatdown of Virginia. As RFDC pointed out last week, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is the rising prospect of the moment. While I'm hesitant to fully embrace one year wonders, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky looks like the real deal in his high light videos. Very accurate and quick release, plus above average scrambling ability. Check out what he did against Virginia ---> https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CV3njZWP8-g
Season: 71% comp 2378yds 8.3avg 18td 2int 56car 101yds 4td

Jbi11s Draft Stock:

1. Kizer- No change
2. Watson- No change
3. Trubisky- up
4. Kaaya- down
5. Kelly- down

I would, but Air raid QBs struggle more than spread QBs in the NFL.

Besides, I don't want to erase our two votes Dolphin!!!

I'm starting to sour on Kaaya, watching him against Notre Dame today. He's holding the ball too long, and seems inept at sensing pressure and maneuvering in the pocket to avoid it without getting himself in trouble. Maybe Miami's coordinator is still calling a Martz-like offense, but Kaaya hasn't looked too good, here.

Kizer, on the other hand, has looked like a pro-talent worthy of a high pick. Progressing nicely through his reads, avoiding pressure well, showing off his arm strength and adding touch when he needs to. On an incomplete pass in the back of the endzone, I saw Kizer through a laser to a place where only his receiver could get it. Unfortunately, said receiver was mugged by a Miami defender, and a questionable no-call resulted.

No chance I trust any QB from Texas Tech. Any QB from the Big 12 for that matter, although I think Baker Mayfield may be worth rolling the dice with a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Vince Young was okay for a bit. RG3 was good for one season. Bradford hasn't played like the first overall pick. None of the QBs from those great Nebraska teams ever did anything. When is the last time that a Big 12 QB had a great NFL career?

Oh, read it again. I was exactly right about Kizer in October 2016.

Forgive me for thinking he could develop.
